  1. Thanks for the tracklisting ;) I will check out the artists I prefered the songs from :D (I was hoping to have some comments on the songs :( But, nevermind, you probably don't like to do it or didn't have time to do it ;))

  7. You should open a blog and share your great writing and large music taste with the world :D I thought I put you some videos from each album of the band so you can have a quick overview of their work if you haven't already ;) You too should open a blog and share your music tastes and great writing with the world :D Thanks for explaining the terms I didn't understand ;) You're welcome for the 'extras' songs ;) I also listen to more DM songs than albums (I think have listen two of them entirely!) Maybe it will bring you to discover more bands from that part of the world on your own (then don't hesitate to share :D) ;)
  8. Yay  I hope it will be the same for the reviews and it will be the perfect mixtape exchange  _________________________________ Speaking of that, here is finally my review, I’m sorry it took me that long: 01. It’s kind of a hippie psychedelic song to me. A man is singing. It’s an interesting mix of instruments but I can’t identify all (battery, flute, guitar). The flute stands out to me (maybe because it’s unusually for me!). There is also electro sounds in it. Well a great mix of sounds :nice: 02. It’s an electro-lounge type of song to me. A woman, with a child-woman voice, is singing and a man joins her at some points. I’m not a huge fan of that kind of female voice. The song seems to have some bell sounds in it or is it a xylophone? The end made me think of the music of a video game :D 03. It’s a folkish type of song to me with battery, piano, guitar. And I think, there are some slight electro sounds in it. The guitar's sound seems coming from far away :nice: In the chorus, a harp is added to the other instruments. A man is singing, I like his voice. Great track! 04. It begins with a 1 minute or so instrumental intro with a mix of electro sounds (which make me think of being under water!). Then a piano comes in followed by a man singing with a high voice. He keeps singing with another mix of electro sounds and the piano. Then there is a 50 seconds or so instrumental outro which is the same as the intro. It makes me think of a Jónsi track, am I right? I would have liked it to be longer :D 05. A man is singing and his voice seems a bit modified or something like that. It’s kind of a folkish-ballad to me with guitar and piano. There is a sound which is like the sound of a drop of water and I can’t tell if it is from an instrument or not. 06. Acoustic beginning with a guitar and a woman singing. Then other instruments come in: piano and, what I think is, a banjo (maybe it’s something else) but it’s still acoustic. I like her type of voice and the music of this song. It reminded me something, maybe I have heard it before! To sum up, it’s an acoustic-folkish-a bit country song to me. 07. A man with a rather deep voice is singing. It’s a folk-rockish song to me… not really sure about that description but I like the song. I think the music is only build with piano and battery but I might be wrong! 08. Again child-woman voices (I think there are two singers, am I right?) with electric guitar. I like the music (build only with guitar and battery, well that’s what I recognized!) and the voice suits nicely with it! When the two women sing, I hear a sound which resembles a ticking clock. This track makes me think of a grown-up lullaby :D 09. Wow complete change of mood with techno-electro music mixed with a woman with a high voice, like an opera voice, at some moments then the voice whispers words. Is it the same woman singing? I found this track original :nice: 10. For me, it’s a folkish type of song with guitar and battery. At the beginning, there are some electro sounds and I think there are a bit of them all along the track. A man with a deep voice is singing, something joined by a woman. 11. A woman is singing. I like how this song is build with very few instruments (I recognize a battery and a guitar, maybe a piano at the end), hands clapping, voice. It’s a folkish song to me. 12. Another techno-electro track with a man singing with the impression he is far away. I found it less original than the other one (number 9) you put in your mixtape. 13. It’s a mix between electro and folk to me. A woman is singing. In the chorus, she uses a high voice. There is a sound that’s like a harp in the chorus or is it a harp but modified? And, there is also a bit of piano in this track. 14. The only artist I recognize, Beirut, but I don’t know the title of the track. Well, no need to describe it, I think you all know Beirut and the type of music he makes. But in this one, there some kind of electro sounds in it, more distinguishable at the end. With the over 1 minute instrumental intro (mostly accordion/xylophone/trumpet), I first think it could be Yann Tiersen! Overall, I found this mixtape original, the way the songs are build with instruments (sometimes only a few of them), sounds: I am not used to listen to these types of songs. It’s a mix that brings you somewhere else :nice: The mixtape flows well together except for the techno-electro songs but it’s a nice break. However, this mix was a bit calm for me. My favourites are songs number 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11. I like the picture used as mixtape cover (can I keep a copy of it?) and it makes me feel you’re a girl! Thank you for the time you spend making this mixtape :nice:
  9. Wow, you listen to various music styles :nice: I'm curious to read the review of the mixtape you created :D And I read your review and have to say that I like your writing style too! Oomph! is a band I really like! Keep on listening to them, they made some great songs! Are we the only one who listen to them here? I never looked it up! By the way, their new album will be released the 18th of May, so soon! But the [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSjInIng6hE]first single[/ame], although it's catchy, was a bit disappointing for me, let hope the rest of the album is better!

  12. Hi Chris, I’m Marie, you’re mixtape maker, nice to meet you! Yes, we don’t know each other on this forum : the only things I find and remember about you, when I was looking what music styles you like, are that we don't have similar music tastes, you like instrumental tracks and you are a reference in music matters here! Waouh what a conclusion-compliment, thanks so much  I’m glad my alien mixtape was a good experience for you and that on top of that you had few favourites :D I definitely like your writing style (I think I get everything, and learnt some new English words :D, except the some musical terms (like the 6th, 7th). The only instrument I played and learnt some terms for was the flute in school 10 years ago and I forgot it all ). Describing sounds with words is not easy and you did it well, plus you added some humorous sentences here and there! Do you write for musical papers or musical websites or something like that and are you musician too? And to finish my long post (sorry about that!), here is the tracklisting: [Title of the track – Artist (Name of the album, EP, single)] 1. Little Whites – The Cape Race (Now, Voyager) 2. The Colour Of Snow – Polarkreis 18 (The Colour Of Snow) 3. Zero Endorphine – Oomph! (Unrein) 4. Rivers – Kankouran feat. Evelyn Burke (Rivers Single) 5. Lips Story In A Chocolate River – Dionysos (Monsters In Love) 6. Parallel Lives – Revolver (Parallel Lives EP) 7. Don’t Sell Me Now – Hey Hey My My (Hey Hey My My) 8. Hello Joe – Beatsteaks (Smack Smash) 9. The Water – Johnny Flynn feat. Laura Marling (Been Listening) 10. Winter Is Over – Jil Is Lucky (Jil Is Lucky) 11. Introspectre – Depeche Mode (Playing The Angel) 12. Song Of The Storm – Emilie Simon (La Marche De l’Empereur Soundtrack) 13. Above These City Lights – Agent Fresco (A Long Time Listening) 14. This I Love – Guns N’ Roses (Chinese Democracy) 15. Serotonin – Oomph! (Ego) EDIT: If you like to listen to it, leave me a pm and I will re-upload it (the file was deleted) ;) _________________________________________ And, mixtape maker, I have not forgotten you ;) I've downloaded your mixtape from my e-mail address and then forgot to come here to say it, sorry. I've already listened to the mix a few times but I like to listen to it a few more times before posting a review, so it will surely be next week! I hope you don't mind waiting ;)
