Thank you for your comments. I replied to some of them below:
02. Gotye with Eyes Wide Open. I think lots of people around the world have heard his hit ‘Somebody that I used to know’! I like the bluesy guitar sound and the mix with electro-ish sounds and rhythm instrument (I don’t know if it’s a drums or something else) is pleasant to my ears! There are also nice choirs like in ‘Somebody that I used to know’.
Ahh see, I put this one exactly to make my partner (whoever they might be) that Gotye has some talent, and isn't just a one hit wonder! Glad you like!
Another one that I like from him is 'Hearts a Mess'! Just to add one more for people to discover Gotye's world! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkYfHxW9zZU]Hearts a Mess[/ame]
05. It’s an electro-ambiant track to me, it’s airy. The singer is a man. It reminds me of Porcelain Raft Porcelain Raft
Ahhhh I LOVE Porcelain Raft. That's a song called New Theory by washed Out.
By re-naming your songs with the correct information in my music library, I noticed that I had another song from Washed Out called 'Echoes'. It was on the mixtape an-angel made for me. It's different, I didn't made the connexion by listening to 'New Theory'. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkV-loGS-eI]Echoes[/ame]
07. It’s a folk-rock song to me. It reminds me of Arcade Fire’s music style. There are guitars, drums, violins. The singer is a man. Towards the middle of the song, the singer is joined by someone but I’m not sure if it’s a man or a woman. Then, there is an instrumental break which I really like. Then, the singing begins again.
Heh! well this band is called Hey Rosetta! and just like Arcade Fire, they're Canadian. I guess Canadian music does have some similarity on the indie scene.
I don't know if all indie Canadian bands have similarities with Arcade Fire, I don't know a lot of Canadian bands!
08. It’s an electro-pop track to me. A man is singing, his voice seems familiar to me.
LCD Soundsystem. Maybe you've heard their stuff before, or James Murphy's stuff.
I probably have heard the album the song is from, once on Spotify, and it left some memories in my brain!
09. It’s a ballad with piano, percussion and violins. A man is singing. It’s a relaxing song, the voice is very pleasant.
Ahh don't laugh but I found this song in the Breaking Dawn soundtrack. This one just stood out like a very romantic song.
I didn't laugh, I didn't even know what movie 'Breaking Dawn' was, I had to google it!
11. It’s an electro-indus song to me. A man is singing, his voice is distorted/modified. I think I already have heard this song somewhere!
M83! You might have heard their hit Midnight City. This is my second favourite song by them, it's called Steve McQueen.
I have listened to their album on Spotify, so that's why it reminded me something!
15. It’s an electro-pop track to me. A man is singing. All along the song there is samba, Rio carnival music but it’s like a cover (the same music with other instruments), if I can say so. And, at the end, there is the actual samba, Rio carnival music. A song that make you dance and I did on my chair This would have be a great track to finish the mixtape.
Ugh okay, I was hesitating to finish the mixtape with this one, but I just couldn't let the 16th track out, because I love it so much and okay, I agree with you anyway, I'm glad you like the song it's by a band called Friendly Fires.
I understand that, I struggled with that too when I made my mixtapes!
Thank you for answering my question about the theme or not in your mixtape and I also listen to music with male singers most of the time!
I will check out more songs from the artists I liked on your mixtape: Spotify, here I come!
Edit: there is a problem with the smilies for me, so I remplaced them by exclamation points/marks.
