  1. Link is weird… :) Hi Mike (the_gloaming09). Many thanks for adding my project name and link to your first post in this thread, but unfortunately it isn't working properly and is going to a 'file not found' page. I'm not really sure if this will work, but I've added a new link here and maybe if you copy and paste these two lines below directly from here to your first post, it might fix it (I'm guessing here though!): Sonic Soul Searcher (Garden of Surreal Dreams) http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=662928 Hope you can clear that up for me Mike and thanks again for this thread idea, Sonic
  2. Well, in the winter I do tend to get very sleepy :laugh3: Cheers all, Sonic ;)
  3. Cheers! :) Thanks for the welcome folks. Just a quick message to The Final Track and anyone else interested: I'm glad you like my avatar as it's one of a set of images that I've created myself. If you're keen to see them, I've just added a message and a link over in this post in the 'Entertainment and Arts' section: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20153&page=257 And also a link to my music over in the World of Music section: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67122&page=4 You'll need to scroll down as my message is further down on those pages. Check them out if you like and post a reply over in those threads if you're into it. If not, that's fair enough, as I know it isn't to everyone's taste. Out for now, Sonic ;)
  4. Unusual Original Music • maybe you'd like to listen and comment? :D Hi to all here. Great idea for a thread. Would you mind also adding my project name and link to the first post, as you've suggested (thanks in advance to 'the_gloaming09' for doing this). If you'd like to hear some music that collectively defies genres and is played on quite a variety of different instruments, then you might like to check out my Soundclick music page at this link: Garden of Surreal Dreams http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=662928 My work is fairly unusual musically and the tracks are really quite different to each other, so if one isn't your kind of thing, then another might be. There's some info that you may find interesting on the main artist page, about past activities etc. All tracks can be streamed, but there are also a few free downloads. You can listen without being a member, or if you wish you can register for free as a listener with Soundclick, which then allows you to create your own user station and add any artist's tracks that you like. Thanks for reading and please feel free to give me your thoughts. Hope you enjoy the sounds from my inner space, folks! Sonic ;)
  5. Artistic Expression through Original PhotoMontage :D Hi to all, I was going to post this in it's own thread but I guess this is the place for it anyway, so here goes. I've created some abstract images from my own original photography, to complement my soundworlds, and you can view them at this link. Scroll down quickly to the slide-show to see the images: http://members.soundclick.com/Sonic+Dreamer Please feel free to give me your thoughts. Hope you enjoy the art from my inner space, folks! Sonic ;)
  6. :D Hi to all Eno lovers (I'm guessing there's a few here). The BBC have been making some great music based programmes and here's another that is destined to be essential viewing. The fabulous TV series Arena has made a one hour special about one of my all-time musical heroes, the one and only Brian Eno. It's first showing on BBC4, Friday 22nd Jan at 21.00. Here's a quote: "Eno has given Arena unprecedented access to observe him working in his studio and talking with friends and colleagues. The master of reinvention engages with fellow influential minds, including Richard Dawkins, Malcolm Gladwell, David Whittaker and Steve Lillywhite, in a series of conversations on science, art, systems analysis, producing and cybernetics." Here's a link to the info: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00q9xqk And here's a link to the BBC blog about it: http://tinyurl.com/y8bgw6k As if that wasn't enough, right after it at 22.00 is another one hour show called Brian Eno: Hits, Classics and Tracks, where Paul Morley talks about some of Eno's hit tracks, either as musician or producer. Nice to see they've chosen a Coldplay track as one of those to showcase. Here's the link for that one: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00q9xqm And here's the tracklist for that show to whet your appetite (OK, you might not like them all, but there's some real classics here!): Roxy Music — Virginia Plain Roxy Music — Ladytron Roxy Music — Grey Lagoons Nico — The End David Bowie — Heroes David Bowie — Boys Keep Swinging Ultravox — My Sex Devo — Jocko Homo Talking Heads — Once in a Lifetime Brian Eno & David Byrne — The Jezebel Spirit U2 — With or Without You Passengers — Miss Sarajevo Coldplay — Viva La Vida David Byrne — Life is Long Also, if you missed it first time around, right afterwards they're repeating The Roxy Music Story yet again at 23.00. Here's the link for that one: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00djn0s If you miss any of these shows they'll all be repeated at some point, so keep your eyes open, and as usual they'll also be available on the BBCiPlayer for a while: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv The BBC are spoiling us! Sonic ;)
  7. :inquisitive: It was so long ago that I can't actually remember the last song written by someone else that I learnt to play. :wink3: The thing is that I much prefer to come up with my own original music and that takes up most of the small amount of spare time I have for anything these days. :D
  8. Well, I could change my mind at any time, but at the moment it says this: 1 - A Rush of Blood to the Head 2 - X&Y 3 - Parachutes 4 - Viva la Vida or Death and all His Friends  ;)
  9. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll definitely have to try to catch this. Great that so many artists have responded to the situation!
  10. :D Hi to all, I've been lurking for a while now and it's a good site for browsing, so I thought I might as well come out into the open and register. I'll try to post here and there when time allows me to and if I've got something interesting to say. All sorts of music styles can catch my interest and I've collected a huge amount of CDs and vinyl over time. Coldplay's sound is one that I've enjoyed a lot, so that's why I'm here. Now, what can I say about myself and what do you really need to know? I was born, played and had fun, went to school, went to art college, worked in the rather less than glamourous area of graphic design, played in a few bands along the way, still occasionally make my own music, still occasionally make my own art, married a wonderful woman, love all sorts of mysteries, eat, drink, sleep, dream, plus all the usual and the unusual. Some things I prefer to keep secret, while others I don't mind sharing. Out for now, Sonic
