i still believe that you're generalizing from one person who said that about germans - and it made you so mad, that you remembered it and think that all other americans think that way. and for the tv shows? you judge americans on FICTIONAL tv shows? i know that in my history classes they did not focus on the fact that we were the ones who leaded the "divine crusade" as you may seem to think. instead they focused on the horrible incidents that occured in the concentration camps at that time, so i still don't know what you're talking about. and never once did i hear anyone in my classes say that if if wasn't for us, everybody would be speaking german.. or anywhere else for that matter. Soliel ... I definitely agree with you, but I do hear people say the German-thing every once in a while. Most of the time they try to use the guise of humor, but it's rarely THAT funny. There's always an element of seriousess serving as an undertone.

Whoa! Captain Optimism! I don't think it's that clear cut. Coldplay have already indicated that they intent to change it up, trying to avoid "soft rock" in the future. The fact that the band is comprised of good musicians and have a great songwriter bodes well for their future success. They have a fan base that's going to listen to their next album no matter what, and in truth that's the hardest part of being a musician: Getting people to listen. BUT ... even if they don't change one bit ... They'll be fine. Look around. There are TONS of people making money off of writing good, poppy songs with tight melodies, applicable themes, and a strong dose of sentimentality. Paul Smon's whole career has been defined by this. James Taylor, who I kind of consider a hack, is living the good life. Sting has been riding this train. "Maturing" acts like U2 and the Chili Peppers continue to drift toward to mainstream, not away. Coldplay isn't going anywhere.

  19. One of my favorite Elton songs is "Harmony" off of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Anybody else like? It's a little over-produed to the point of dramaticism, but I like it.
