  6. Write a story portraying yourself as a total fanatic who launches and succeeds in an elaborate plan to kidnap Gwyneth Paltrow. While tabloid media wildly speculates that you've done this in some bizarre plot to secure Gwyneth's affections, you're really doing this as a means by which to communicate with Chris and convince him to play some traditional Jewish songs at your Bah Mitzvah (sic?). After a long negotiation you convince him to do it, necessitating an abrupt conversion to Judism on your part. In the end, the story ends up being about nothing more than your fascination with the Dradle song? Dradle, dradle, dradle I made you out of clay And when you're dry and ready Then Dradle I will play Spiderwebs and I'm caught with my dradle So I turn to run, thoughts of all the small clay things I've spun

Good post! While I'm Aries, I'm not too fierce a drinker, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't drink with Rosie O'Donnell ... ... but you never know.
  8. The number one thing for me ... it's not even close: Seeing a dog panting or wagging its tail with joy. Illiciting a smile from a toddler is a distant second.

Because the U.S. is making the world a worse place to live. That's something I had never said until 1 year ago.

Doogie .... I loved your post!!! I watch a lot of Rugby, a lot of the AFL, a lot of the NFL. I played American football for 4 years and Rugby for parts of two. The argument above completely ignores the fact that the hits in the NFL are about 20x more violent than in the other two sports. All the games are rough, but American football's rules generate specific situations (like a quarterback getting blindsided by a defensive end) that have no analog in Rugby or the AFL. In other words, I find this argument to be very lacking. I'm measuring my words. Can't argue with that. Obviously you've never tried catching a fly ball or a line drive with your bare hands. I don't think anybody wants to watch a game where nobody ever fielded a ball cleanly because the ball-to-size of hand ratio was out of whack. But this is a product of conscious, societal decisions. I think a more accurate statement would be "Americans choose to be dependant on cars because they are unwilling to invest in public transportation infrastructure." I agree, and personally I think Americans should learn a little bit more about our country's place in the world. Do we have the biggest army? Yes. Do we have the strongest economy? Yes. That doesn't make an American more valuable than a Briton or a Frenchmen or a German. Or a Palestinian. Or an Iraqi. If you get to know enough Americans you get the distinct impression that our culture is breeding this attitude.

I was watching the one when the president gave the speech to Sadam Hussein telling him he had 48 hours... I saw that one last night. That episode really brought up some wierd emotions for me ... remembering 9-11 and having to bite my tongue on a daily basis for a couple of months while people in this country worked through the reality of their new world. I still kind of get upset at lot of the things that have happened since then.

It was really, really good. He was really engaging. He played between 26 and 30 songs (which was amazing). He was affable and personable and performed really well. I was so happy that I went and saw him. And it helped that he played "My Drug Buddy," one of my all-time favorite songs.

"Baby I'm Bored" First solo album from Evan Dando. Good work. Saw him Friday.

Jay and Slient Bob playing such central roles make the movie more campy than it needed to be. In Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, I liked the campiness; basically, that movie's supposed to be so. In Dogma, it just didn't seem to work. Linda Fiorentino is horrible in this movie. Excrutiatingly horrible, IMO. Kevin Smith, in the director's commentary for JSBSB mentions how poor an experience it was to work with her. I was a poor experience watching her, too. Overall, it's just not that great a movie, though I do kind it mildly entertaining and don't cringe when it comes on Comedy Central. Still, I expect more frm Kevin Smith.

I know, and lately we've deserved it. It is embarassing at times. It's also disturbing to know that I probably unconsicously will, at one point in my life, contribute to the problem merely because I don't know better. But I would have no problem with these little social things if it wasn't for the politics of the world at this point. I don't mind being an 800 pound gorilla. I mind being a retarded 800 pound gorilla.
  19. Uh ... yeah ... I'm not going to PAY for bowling shoes. Kidding. I had a really old, tore up pair of shoes I used to skate in ... I wore them into the bowling alley one day and rented shoes, leaving the left of the skate shoes as my deposit. I never intended on redeeming my deposit. Whether the alley knew it or not, they had just traded me two old, stinky bowling shoes for one old, stinky, tore up skating shoe.
  20. Just curious as to what resources people use for music information ... whether those reqources be electronic, print or television.

Americans ARE relatively fat, though. I'm pretty down on America as a culture recently so I wouldn't really mind seeing the fat, greedy, ugly American architype perpetrated for a little while. Hope that doesn't bum people out. Don't take it personally: I'm just acting out. Almost all the Americans I hang out with are super cool people, and if you're reading this in another country I would be happy to introduce them to you so you can say "I know a nice American." Anybody watching this season of the Real World on MTV? There's some ugly American things happening there.
  22. I've seen some insane set lists from Radiohead shows. This show in San Diego (my tickets cost $47.50US) went about 2 hours and 15 minutes long. I honestly can't remember how many songs they played, but I definitely don't keep like my money was wasted. I really felt I was seeing a classic band perform and felt very fortunate. Slightly off topic, I'm sure everybody has seen the Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel have reunited for a tour. It's not my thing, but I checked Ticketmaster and the cheepest ticket is $50US. Main floor tickets are $125US. So much for the US's stuggling economy (if anybody ever believed that anyway).
