I think paradise is jarring when it comes on, and just doesn't fit. I actually like PoC but I still wish Chris had sang it. The short instrumentals are what MAKE the album for me... M.M.I.X makes ETIAW fit in perfectly, I think it makes the song 1000% better just by setting the mood.

Does anyone else think it sounds like it could be off of A Hundred Million Suns by Snow Patrol? (In a good way!! Not hating, I absolutely LOVE the song!!)

Okay, got another response from my friend, I asked about Princess of China and what her favorite song from the album was: "The duet was really good! at first it was weird to hear her kind of voice with coldplay music but it worked! I think teardrops and paradise are going to be the big singles. but my favorite song is probably charlie brown!"

Just got a response from a friend on FB who was at the listening party, in response to my asking about the album, this is what she said: " it was such a good album!!!! every song is so awesome!! the theme throughout is really similar to every tear drop is a waterfall. like upbeat, positive really good mix of instruments music! i wish we couldve listened to it more than once" I asked her some more questions, I'll post here when she responds!

Definitely X&Y era. I saw them live during the Twisted Logic tour, and X&Y very well may be my favorite album. I agree it isn't cohesive like VIVA but, there's just something about the feeling it gives me when I listen to it.

I totally agree with you that Paradise is the most haunting song from this era yet released... I haven't been able to get it out of my head since first hearing it yesterday... and THANK YOU. Your post is a breath of fresh air amidst all of this negativity. Although Paradise is very different from anything Coldplay has previously released, I do enjoy it. I do believe that this album is going to be great and definitely much better than people seem to be giving it credit for with the release of Paradise.
