  7. It is with great sadness that we report that former manager and coach Malcolm Allison has passed away aged 83. Perhaps City’s greatest ever coach, he joined the Blues in 1965 when Joe Mercer brought him to City in the summer of 1965 from Plymouth Argyle where his innovative methods marked him out as a talent with huge potential. Alongside Mercer, ‘Big Mal’ formed a formidable partnership which oversaw the greatest period of success in the club’s history, thanks in no small part to Malcolm’s willingness to try new and often untried training techniques. The Mercer/Allison team helped the Blues secure the League Championship, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup-Winners' Cup during an unforgettable three-year spell. Later, Malcolm had two separate spells in sole charge of the club and continued to be held in high esteem by players and fans alike, though without Mercer at his side, they proved frustrating periods for such a talented coach. Club Ambassador Mike Summerbee said: “Malcolm changed football by making us train like athletes, in that respect he was ahead of his time and he was a great tactician as well. He was also one of the lads - in effect he was the twelfth player from the sidelines but he knew how to crack the whip and we respected him. “He was a great psychologist; he knew how to handle me and how to get more out of me. He did the same for Colin Bell, Francis Lee, Neil Young and all of that great side.” City Life President and former general secretary Bernard Halford, who knew Malcolm for over 40 years said, “We will never see the likes of him ever again, and he did so much for the club. The signing of Tony Book was a masterstroke, but he enhanced the careers of so many other players and they worshipped him. “You knew he was in a room with you, not many people have that kind of presence but Malcolm did, and he transferred the confidence he had in himself to the team. He felt we could beat anybody and he wanted the players to think that way too.” Flamboyant, brilliant and larger than life, Malcolm will be sorely missed by everyone at the Club and beyond. The Club, whose flags are at half mast, will pay tribute to Malcolm at the forthcoming game against Arsenal. There will also be an appropriate commemoration to his life and work in the memorial garden at the City of Manchester Stadium. You can pay your own tributes to Malcolm on Facebook or email the club at [email protected].
  8. I did today ! We have a union in my work place whom do nothing it seems to me. Have laugh at this mail Hi there, Sometime last year when the works council was 1st set up, I emailed and also posted a letter in the suggestion box. I nevar got any sort of response. One that I felt that was a very well thought out suggestion, of which would have helped both COLT however most importantly possible retention of good staff. Recently I also sent an email complaining about the lighting situation yet again I never got a response. It seems to me, that the works council only seems to be interested in their own agenda that they choose and if something does not fit it to this, they are not interested. I would like to thank you all for all your non help over the years, and just cluttering up our work place with your propaganda, and promoting of far left unions whom seem hell bent causing trouble for all. I would love to know what you all actually do. --- and the response I got .. ....... First of all just keep in mind improving things is far from being easy. Then every single mail is read and the topics are introduced to the company. Our failure: we might not have time to answer all the mails sorry. We do receive lots of mails. The light issue is being dealt with testing has been done and this topic as well as the cabling issue is still on the negociation table. Other topics brought by our colleagues are being dealt with on a day to day basis. Improvements when it exists and there´s been might not appear obvious but …if you look around you ll see them. " cluttering up our work place with your propaganda, and promoting of far left unions whom seem hell bent causing trouble for all. " Interesting…Ugt is not far left by the way. We do not believe or at least one of the two unions that we do so but true enough we acted for the strike which as you might have read did not cause that many trouble anyway and was needed as we have to think about our future, your future. We spend lots of our time to help and only to help. You are more than welcome to talk to us when you see us here or on internet. It would be much easier for us to just do a very basic job, less stressfull etc…but no we do do our best. Next week if you do work and as I ll be on an early shift I ll be delighted to talk to you and tell you what we are working on. But have a look at this for example…our topics for next company meeting. 1. BH 14 2. 40 h Works week 3. Employee and Absence handbook 4. Break time duration 5. ticket restaurant value 6. Cables and Light 7. Cigma – justificante 8. Toilet break 9. Pension Plan 10. *** Convenio
  9. In my last job of which I held for 6 years, torwards the end there was a press relase that our company was shedding 6000 jobs. Pre 2001 we all had great contracts of which meant we would have all be quids in if we would have been laid off. This did not happen, since our office was the best office in the country. Then I just left and moved to Barcelona. Sometimes Redunancy can be a blessing in disguse in the trade I am in, the contracts are normally gnerous when it comes to things like this. !
  10. I like this thread, I for one has started to learn 2 new languages one I speak quite or understand quite well these days, the other not so much. However it has enabled me to understand another culture, and also understand people that struggle to speak my own native language. One of the best thing I have ever done with my life.

  18. Its not good this, as it is the club would be better of being bankcrupt, and the banks selling the club to the fans. Its a very uncertian time at liverpool... its not good and now I am sorry for them. I am going to change my avitar.
  19. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/9069040.stm Hicks set to fight Liverpool sale Tom Hicks has vowed to fight the £300m sale of Liverpool in the High Court. The Reds board agreed the deal with New England Sports Ventures but co-owners Hicks and George Gillett claim to have sacked two directors to halt the sale. However, chairman Martin Broughton has stated that the American duo do not have the power to change the board. Both parties are now set for a legal dispute after Hicks told BBC Radio 5 live's Brian Alexander he intended to pursue the matter through the courts. The Liverpool board consisting of Broughton, managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre outvoted Hicks and Gillett in agreeing the sale. However, in an effort to keep control of the Anfield side, Hicks and Gillett have claimed they have replaced Purslow and Ayre with Hicks' son Mack and Lori Kay McCutcheon, a vice president at Hicks Holdings - giving the co-owners a majority on the board and with it the ability to block any sale. When asked about the takeover by Alexander, Hicks replied in a e-mail: "We legally reconstituted the board and the board does not approve of this transaction." Then asked how he and Gillett could block the move, Hicks added: "We have removed Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre." Hicks and Gillett believe that the deal with NESV, which owns the Boston Red Sox baseball team, undervalues the Merseyside outfit and, if it were to go through, would see them lose about £140m. However, Broughton, who was brought in to oversee the sale of the club in April, insisted on Wednesday that he and the rest of the board have the authority to push through the deal. "When I took the role they gave a couple of written undertakings to Royal Bank of Scotland - that I was the only person entitled to change the board and that they would take no action to frustrate any reasonable sale," stated Broughton. "I think they flagrantly abused both of those written undertakings. I have the casting vote." The issue is now likely to go to the High Court next week, while the Premier League also has to ratify the deal, though it is thought to be happy with NESV's proposed business plan. If a ruling goes the way of Hicks and Gillett then the pair will have to negotiate the hurdle of the 15 October deadline set by Royal Bank of Scotland to repay the £240m of loans and £40m of fees they are owed. RBS could then place Liverpool into administration, . NESV has said it will remove "all acquisition debt" if it buys the club and Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is looking forward to the arrival of a group which also owns American baseball team Boston Red Sox. Dan Roan, BBC sports news "It's very positive and of course I'm delighted," he told the . "It's been going on a long time and I know how hard the board have worked to set things up. "I know it's not easy for them because the owners have other ideas in terms of the sale of the club and what is achievable. "But I was delighted to hear the news and have it confirmed that it looks like it is going to go through."
