  1. Not really off topic, this stuff is all related.
  2. Hurts Like Heaven is naked without MX. The beginning sounds weird and wrong without it. DLIBYH however can stand on its own, even though I like AHT better than MX. Finally, MMIX functions as a quiet piece that separates UATW from ETIAW, two songs with clashing styles. So I understand the function of these tracks, but I do think they shouldn't have been separate tracks.
  3. You're right. But why do Coldplay have to follow this? My guess is that Chris is scared to death that his tunes will not get everyone going right away. But we could go deeper and conclude that they just want to sell records and they (Chris) probably think instant commercial success is the only way to measure how good a song/album is.
  4. I do. Edit: I've listened to MX quite some times now, and it doesn't move me in any way, it's kinda flat and empty. It has its moments though and I regularly find myself nodding and tapping to the beat, but it's not enough, not satisfying, far from it. I disagree with people who say Viva was a grower and this one will be too. The first times I heard Viva I thought "what the fuck is this?" because I didn't understand it and I was used to their old style. But it still fascinated me just because of these reasons, and little by little it revealed itself to me as a masterpiece. Innovation Coldplay needed. It took me over a year to know the titles to the individual tracks as it has always been one solid piece to me. I still enjoy listening to it and I still enjoy the mystery that surrounds it. It is in fact the varied concept album MX tries to present itself as. As for MX, we all know Chris is a fool for any kind of pop music or anything that's catchy. It was only a matter of time before that took control of Coldplay's music. I regard this album as a game they play or an exercise they do to see what happens when they experiment with all kinds of popular genres and a ton of sugar syrup. Something to keep things amusing for the boys. I hope it won't last, this direction. In 10 years, MX will be kind of forgotten (my guess), it will be nothing compared to what AROBTTH will still be then.
  5. Oh, so you mean they're not going to broadcast the December shows so people would have to buy tickets for the 2012 shows in order to see the new songs they will start to play in December, right? Makes sense.
  6. That's not what I meant, but you could be right on that. Still, I don't get how it is a marketing strategy. The shows in December are all sold out, after all.
  7. Oh I see. Thanks. Short set, that explains a lot. No Lost! (I don't mind), No Til Kingdom Come :(, and no Politik :(:( (I wouldn't have left that out ). Still, I don't get why they left UATW (out of all new songs) out for Up In Flames.
  8. Wow nice small venue, cool they still do that. I've been in since The Scientist, Violet Hill and GPASUYF were rocking, just amazing (as usual), but then Paradise and Up In Flames left me a bit cold and killed the rocking mood. Literally lol'd when he said "Up in flaaaaaaa- what the fuck was that? -ames". So eh, where's Politik?
  9. Has anyone had their tickets sent to their house yet? Because I still haven't got them. Should I get worried?
  10. Yay, I'm 10,000th visitor! I won! OMG, I'm so happy! :D :dazzled: Well, it doesn't work either, now I'm really giving up. Bye.
  11. Alright, I'm giving up. Goodnight everyone, and for those who are watching, enjoy!
  12. Because it's their first show since the album release, and they seriously think people are unaware that they played and streamed the same show all summer long. It's publicised as hell, that's why it's not working for most of us. You can watch any recording of any show instead, unless you don't want to miss Paradise, only the director probably won't be as good as this one.
  13. Why do they play Lost! again? Is it because of the lighting that they are unable to change the setlist? That sucks, music should be more important than everything that accompanies it. Still, no sound, no image, apart from the rotating dots...
  14. I think it's that. And I think the confetti is overrated, it was fun during the Viva era though, but it's getting old. Oh well, still nothing for me, but I'm not alone...
  15. What a surprise... And seriously, Jonny has never been inside a cocoon or a shell or whatever. He has always been the shine of the band.
  16. Wow, I see this thread in the tab with the video I'm watching... Thanks to whoever provided this, but still waiting for the actual thing.
  17. I love highly trained monkeys and spinning wheels. So, no Coldplay for me either. Maybe I should keep waiting. Or maybe I should just go to bed...
  18. There are no lyrics in the booklet, as far as I know.
  19. I don't know about Hurts Like Heaven, it's incomplete without MX and it would be weird if they released both as one single.
  20. +1 (Probably EMI shareholders)
  21. Yeah, I think they said in an interview that U.F.O. was kind of the first song they wrote for the new era, and that the melody is used in quite some other songs. I should listen to Major Minus again, haven't heard it there yet.
  22. The only Coldplay song that made me come close to shedding a tear once is I Ran Away. Other than Coldplay, there's also Mirrorball by Elbow. But on MX, nope.
