  1. What the fuck Coldplay? I understand fans from that area should be able to go to one of their concerts. But why choose to play at an event with prices ordinary people can hardly afford? Are they really falling for the oil dollars? This is merely UAE rich man's propaganda, an event fueled by hubris (ύβρις) Coldplay are taking part in. I don't understand. I'm disappointed once again.
  2. We're lucky Coldplay (and shitloads of central heating, and body warmth of 17,000+ people) will keep us warm. :D As in, bump.
  3. Also, just listen to the guitar solo Jonny used to produce during A Rush Of Blood To The Head, always fantastic, always different, no way that it's fake.
  4. Of course, it's been all over the radio for at least a week now.
  5. Lights and stars and heavens have always been themes in Chris' lyrics. I'm not saying it's merely a coincidence but keep that in mind.
  6. Clocks, definitely. It has a brilliant structure (a shame for the radio edit and more recent live versions, which rip this configuration apart) and great lyrics. Amazing live performances of this song are all over the Youtubes. It shows Coldplay at their peak. As for Speed Of Sound, I was hyped about it when it came out, it was my favourite song. But I lost interest in this song later and I discovered that it's really not THAT good (Clocks-good, that is), lyrically nor musically. I still think it's a good song though. I'm actually surprised that so many people do prefer Speed Of Sound over Clocks. Just surprised I mean.
  7. Yes, our tickets arrived too. Al last. So, I guess I'll see you all there :p
  8. Just saying, haven't got the tickets either. But I see no one has, so let's just wait a little longer.
  9. I see. When a station attracts more people, those people are usually very hit-sensitive. The same is true for Belgium's Studio Brussel.
  10. Indeed highly influenced by the popular songs of today, it's obviously a hit radio station, since hit people don't have a long memory. That explains why ETIAW and Paradise are in it, and why they're so high. And you can see 2009 hits going down in the list already. Still, well done Coldplay!
  11. In chronological order, not ranked: Such A Rush Brothers And Sisters Don't Panic Spies Trouble Politik God Put A Smile Upon Your Face The Scientist Clocks Daylight Warning Sign A Whisper A Rush Of Blood To The Head Amsterdam I Ran Away Twisted Logic Til Kingdom Come Cemeteries Of London Yes Chinese Sleep Chant Violet Hill Strawberry Swing Death And All His Friends Glass Of Water Rainy Day Major Minus Up With The Birds Parachutes: 3 A Rush Of Blood To The Head: 9 X&Y: 2 Viva La Vida: 6 Prospekt's March: 2 Mylo Xyloto: 2 Others: 3 I'm not sure, I tried to pick something off of everything. It's hard. I can easily rank the albums, but I can't pick songs. It depends on the season of the year, the day of the week, the time of the day, which album/song I last listened to, the colour of shirt I'm wearing... It changes all the time. I don't know. Don't count, there are 27.
  12. Let's see. Daylight vs Major Minus is the only interesting competition. All the others are won by AROBTTH. So it's 11-0 or 10-1
  13. Answered this many times before. It depends how you look at it. For example, Amsterdam is unknown and underrated by most people, but the fanbase will generally see that song as one of their best. Same for I Ran Away. I'm in an Amsterdam period now. I could listen to that song and still discover new things, and still be stunned. Amsterdam.
  14. Rock Werchter, because I was there and I'm biased. The reason Glasto is 1st in the poll is probably because most people are biased too. Rio was objectively the best crowd I'd say, Rock Am Ring was overwhelming because it was new, and Glasto through Werchter had the best setlist.
  15. "It's not that being in a band makes your problems more interesting." Spot on, Chris. Interviewer seems like a little bit of a dick to me (judging by that 2 minute piece on the previous page). What does annoy me is that Chris says "selling records" a bit too frequently (okay, he said it once here, but I mean, in general). The amount of records sold is not per se related to how good the music is. In the same way as the amount of drugs you do is not per se related to how good the music is either. I'm glad he understands the latter statement. Go Chris.
  16. Snow Patrol? Guess y'all are not wasting your time after all. But I am, I'm not even watching. Bye bye everyone. Enjoy the incredifantastic and overall awesome show.
  17. Sucks to be you. :p Anyway, I happened to miss something funny here.
  18. Your generation, our generation, just does what other generations have done before. Swallowing everything the media fire at us. Unfortunately, it happens to be more atrocious than it used to be. And don't worry, I don't know about US or Kansas, but around here a lot of people my age are into more alternative and good stuff and they don't bother watching commercial bullshit like MTV awards. That's why most of the time good artists/bands don't stand a chance in this kind of thing.
  19. Selena who? Just kidding, I just wish I'd never heard of her. ^Oh yeah, that, Chris' speeches are awesome.
  20. Oh, so that's today. Well, I don't care if they win or not. At least we know what they're worth, they don't need these awards.
  21. Grey. How is the other one blue, by the way? Yeah, it has a blue corner, but overall it's rather, well, I can't put a single colour on it. :p
  22. I have to be honest, I've never been fond of the album. Haven't listened too much, I was excited when I heard it for the first time but that's normal. But after a week I was tired of it already. Of course, when I listen to some tracks now, I think it's not all bad. But it's not interesting. By contrast, Viva was weird in the beginning weeks but it only grew more interesting as time went by. Viva was/is everything Coldplay think MX is (concept, cohesive, varied, grower, experimental, alternative, ...). But, it angers me that yet another potential constructive argument or discussion by "dislikers" is ruined because the OP is a dickhead who wants to shove his opinion down other people's throats. You can't force them to hate it. I'm afraid that many of the fans who like it now will get bored of it in the near or slightly more distant future. But please, let them enjoy it while it's still enjoyable for them - yes, I'm afraid the album is not the grower they are trying to promote it as, but quite the opposite. And for those who will always love it, that can only be good. I for one just think that MX will not live for too long, and it will not be what fans will remember Coldplay by in 30 years' time. Their masterpiece was made 9 years before. But then again, MX is what it is, it's there, for the time being. Let people love it. Let it be.
  23. Bold part makes me anxious. I so hope this isn't true. I fully agree on the last 6 sentences
  24. Can't wait to see what they think is inspiring about it. And I don't mean this in a negative way, well maybe I do. Okay, UATW could be labelled as inspiring. Maybe MM too and maybe UWTB a little.
