Yes, I am a med student, how do you know? You're creeping me out. Are you a med too? And by the way, do you mean that Chris receives most/all royalties for the songs they write? I don't understand. I thought they split everything.

Car Kids
Yeah Car Kids! I hope it features Justin Bieber, David Guetta, Flo Rida (no idea who that is, by the way), Fergie and J-Lo! :dazzled: :dazzled: :dazzled: :dazzled: :dazzled: On a serious note, long live the troll thread. On an even more serious note, I think Viva is a masterpiece compared to MX, and the fact that Viva had an "anthem" has nothing to do with that, at all. Viva stands without Viva, if you know what I'm saying. Plus, A Rush is a masterpiece compared to Viva, and that has everything to do with A Rush itself. EDIT: forgot to add Ne-Yo, Professor Green, Gary Barlow and Lady Gaga. Sorry.

While we're at it, can someone explain why Waving Flag was a hit and everyone was so wild about it? I don't remember anything good about that song. It either featured will.i.am. and David Guetta or was a sell-your-soul-to-the-evil-corporation Coca-Cola commercial song (both make my stomach turn). Anyway, the song they rehearsed during the soundcheck Wednesday has been described by witnesses as having "a lot of energy" and "Chris seemed very excited about it". Could be good, but it makes me think about ETIAW, or Paradise (again, stomach turns). On a positive note, by lowering their standards it becomes easier for them to surprise me in a positive way. Right? Don't let me down Coldplay, I've got one eye watching you.

Thanks Ian, some really nice pictures! But I'm sure Will and Guy were there too when I was there. Apparently I was mistaken. :P

I really miss this band :(
I know the hits are concentrated on side A but... wut? I beg to differ. :phu: :p The difference between Clocks album version and Clocks radio edit is this: Full version: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmej-clcqA4]Coldplay - Clocks ( With Lyrics ) - YouTube[/ame] (In the radio edit, parts from 2:27 to 2:57 and from 3:56 to 4:10 are left out) Radio version: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d020hcWA_Wg]Coldplay - Clocks - YouTube[/ame]

So it seems we weren't that close, I was on the (relatively far) left, about halfway between the main stage and X stage. I think it would be funny if I saw some Coldplayers without knowing.

Merci pour les révisions francophones! Apparemment les journalistes wallons se sont amusés aussi. Mais, tout le monde s'est mis d'accord sur le fait que le concert était trop court... ^ I still think Coldplay has been attracting a completely new crowd, the ones that love hearing their latest hits on the radio, but know little or nothing about their history, their lyrics or their less-known songs. Of course, those people have the right to go to a Coldplay concert too! But I see a trend here. I expected to be in the core of Belgium's Coldplay fanbase, but I was mistaken. Where were you standing/sitting, if I may ask?

No, Will's daughter apparently. That must be one of the kids that have been seen by one of the Coldplayers.

I actually read all that and I have to say I really agree with what you said. Too many damn casual fans. :p I'd expected the venue to be full of big fans, as opposed to the festival shows I'd attended. But by contrast, the crowd here was the weakest. And maybe the band were a bit too "automatic", know what I'm saying?

^Thanks to Bart Steenhaut, biggest Coldplay fan among reporters around the world. :p Some say it has become a routine for Coldplay to play shows like this, and that they don't love it as much as they used to. I'd agree that it is daily been-there-done-that-routine, and it seems like a music machine, but underneath that, I'm sure they still enjoy playing. Chris still jumps and runs around, and I could see their smiling faces at times. They love to absorb the energy the crowd gives them. But when I read the reviews on the Wiki, I think it's kind of sad that I didn't witness them 10 or so years ago. I'm always saying that they were better, more sober, more concentrated back then. But were they really that much more into it?

How to meet Coldplay "Tactics"
When I want to meet Jonny, I just give him a call and ask when he's at home to see if I can visit him sometime. Now you might ask yourself how I got his phone number? Simple, I just asked Chris for it.

Xyloband starts glowing 3 days after concert
I remember the bands weren't always perfectly in sync last night, but I don't think it was the same colours that lit up at the same time. Maybe you should ask the Oracle about it.

[18-Dec-2011] Coldplay @ Sportpaleis, Antwerp, Belgium
Whew, my 3rd Coldplay show to date, and I enjoyed it. Time for a little review. The first two Coldplay shows I attended took place at the Werchter meadow (2009 and 2011), and I was curious about how the atmosphere would be in the relatively smaller and indoor Sportpaleis. After waiting outside for some time we found ourselves a nice spot on the floor at the left (Jonnyboy!), close to the stage, halfway the main stage and B-stage. I wasn't impressed with the opening act - Emeli tried her best, but it's not my kind of music at all - so when the lights went out and MX/Hurts Like Heaven kicked in, with the most amazing visual show ever, I couldn't be saved. It was loud and epic, and the pace was kept up during Yellow and In My Place. Balloons, confettis, all you can imagine, added to all of this and almost distracted us from the music during the first leg of the show. During Major Minus, possibly the best live song on Mylo Xyloto, I couldn't help realising that the acoustics of the arena weren't good at all. Luckily I I knew what I had to hear so my auditory cortex could filter the right chords from the wall of noise. It was an epic start that blew everybody away. But I wouldn't be me if I was positive about everthing. The scientist, one of my favourites, couldn't give me the satisfaction I expected. Was it because it came too early in the setlist? Quite possibly. Or was it because the crowd wasn't that much into it? It didn't compare to the festival crowds I'd been part of at least two times. The show went on, Violet Hill was flawless and GPASUYF blasted everyone who was still standing. Later, the B-stage set was a bit disappointing because they all faced away from me. Up In Flames was definitely the lamest moment of the show. Us Against The World was better, but it missed some of the magic it had during the festival summer. Anyway, whoever didn't see Politik coming probably passed out because of the loudness, or the epicness. Again, I think the crowd could have sung along more and better. After that, the rest of the show, including the encore, was a lot like a catchiest-hits-offensive to close the night. Too bad it didn't impress me all that much. Paradise competes with Up In Flames for most boring moment (at least in my opinion), White Christmas was unneeded - we won't get a white Christmas this year anyway - and Every Teardrop left me with a feeling that the concert was too short (only 1h20min!) and they didn't throw everything at me to get me satisfied. I'm happy most attendees enjoyed the living shit out of it though. So here's a little more negative criticism: It was too short, and the setlist was identical to the one at Werchter this year, which made it predictable and a bit boring at times. Plus, I missed a chance to see/hear my all-time favourite songs they seem to have forgotten about. Too bad Shiver, in my eyes the peak moment at Werchter, Everything's Not Lost (I'm afraid half of the crowd wouldn't be able to sing most of the lyrics anyway) and Life Is For Living (in every respect a 1000 times a better closer than Paradise) were left out and replaced by the 3 songs I enjoyed least. Too bad they couldn't fill a 2 hour show with their amazing back catalogue, instead they gave us the same short show they've been doing all year and a lot of us had witnessed already. On top of that, it felt a lot like a collection of their greatest hits, with minimal inclusion of darker, moodier and less known old songs for the more knowledgeable fans. But anyway, enough ranting. A very incredible start, a little less unforgettable after that, but certainly a geat show despite everything. I want to conclude that even though I dislike their latest album, they are still the best live band out there and they can seemingly effortlessly kill any show. And on top of all that, they really had mad fun themselves. That sent us back home in the snow with a smile upon our faces.

I really miss this band :(
I love Warning Sign too! I'd have to guess that there is no correlation between which Coldplay songs I like and which songs they like themselves. I love Warning Sign and Shiver (apparently some band member(s) - was it Guy or Will? - are tired of the latter song), but I really dislike their current favourites Paradise and Princess Of China. I think we agree on Amsterdam (everybody likes Amsterdam) and Speed Of Sound (not so keen on it). It's normal that they like their recent releases better, they won't release anything they don't like, while they can get tired of older stuff in the mean time. ^ I'd have to disagree. They've always been top live. I like early versions of Clocks a lot better than the version they play now, it's a shame they play the radio edit now, which tears the perfect composition apart. And yes, it's louder but it's not better. Same goes for GPASUYF. The way they deliver it now is loud and incredible, but the classic way is fantastic too. I don't know which arrangement I like better, they're different and I like both. Overall, I'd say they are louder and more powerful now, but a lot less sober and melancholic, and yeah, I miss that too. But what can or should we do about it if they're happy that way?
