  1. My argument is this. I know that a single song doesnt necessarily represent the entire quality of the album. However, if Magic, which is, IMO, the "weakest track" on Ghost Stories so far, is positively received by the critics, i'm sure, Ghost Stories will be a critical success.
  2. my conscience is clear, i did not record it cuz i wasnt there, i never shared any links nor uploaded anythin ;) all i did was listen to it and describe what it sounded like. ;) ;) ;) i actually enjoy songs more when i hear snippets of it whether its on good quality or high quality. but yeah, didnt share any links or uploaded videos of it ;) my conscience is clear as distilled water
  3. and people here worried thats its gonna be pure EDM, lol ... :p guitars are prominent in ASFOS. :D
  4. IMO Jonny is very prominent here. just listen at the chiming guitars :D ASFOS reminds me of U2's JOSHUA TREE. a mix between we found love and songs from the JOSHUA TREE.
  5. yeah ur right. and ASFOS has a better production than the uber noisy ETIAW.
  6. another one, search it on youtube based on the time it is uploaded, or if u want go to the ghost stories thread on atrl :)
  7. i heard a better quality version of ASFOS, i hear guitars and piano. there are parts that are JOSHUA TREE-ish. its not overly EDM actually. its my opinion though, dont hate me, lol :D but i do understand why some people here Rihanna's we found love, hahaha its a critically better ETIAW the electric guitar parts are more prominent
  8. i heard a better version of ASFOS, i dunno but, i hear guitars there, it actually sounds JOSHUA TREE-ish... so yeah, lets not slag this song off as an EDM generic pop track until we heard the high quality version
  9. well said, cimpletely agree with everything u said. cheers :)
  10. i think viva la vida the album was not polarizing. i think there is a perception that viva was a polariaizing album because its a coldplay album. Its Coldplay the band that is polarizing. even those critics that have traditionally slagged off and dismissed coldplay as a joke praised viva la vida, but not by much, it feels like they were forced to give it a favorable review just becaise of the fact that its that good and they cant accept the fact that it was done by coldplay. critics have their biases thats why historically coldplay has been underrated in tersm of their albums
  11. my point is, the diminishing commercial returns is not coldplay;s fault but as the result of an overall decline in the music market. its much like in economics, where inflation or deflation are taken into consideration. the point is MX, in relation to the overall decline of album sales over the past few years, is considered a success. We should limit ourselves in comparing album sales in ABSOLUTE TERMS and start considering factors like the declining music market, people preferring to buy singles more than albums, and a lot of other factors.
  12. 72 percent is just 8 points shy of what A RUSH got(which is 80). MIXED review is 50%-60%. Mixed to POSITIVE is 65%. and anything above 70% is POSITIVE. anything above 80 is CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED. and viva la vida is critically successful since most music crtiics have put that album in the top 10 of the best albums of 2008. most of them put it as the top album of 2008. and most retrospective critic reviews have placed the albunm as one of the best albums of the past decade.
  13. well QUEEN did that when they did ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST in the 80s lol. its still a bop today, haha :D
  14. only MX can be said to have mixed reviews. to be fair, MX had a mixed to positive review. Viva la Vida is both a COMMERCIAL and CRITICAL success. It was one of the critics's choices as the best album of 2008.
  15. your right, but we need to put that in perspective. their decline in sales is primarily a result of the overall decline of album sales in the past few years. back in the early 2000s album sales are still very healthy, but starting 2007 until now album sales have been declining drastically. but even with the overall declining music market, coldplay has been selling really well. there are some exceptiosn to the rule though like Adele's 21, taylor's RED etc. but the reason for this is that those albums are their MAGNUM OPUS. Coldplay's MAGNUM OPUS, is arguably ARBTHH. (and VIVA if u ask me)
  16. am i living under a rock? really? coldplay has a song about getting laid in miami or whatever city?
  17. there's nothing wrong with being mainstream as long as the songs that they put out are of quality. there's really nothing wrong with being POP in my opinion as long as it is done right. whether or not ASFOS is a good POP song is another debate and we wil have to wait and see before we make any conclusions
  18. i agree with u, it was not a mega hit, AT THE TIME OF THE ALBUM'S Launch. It became a mega hit later on. it was a slow burner.
  19. In terms of piano ballads, Coldplay has been there and done that. They want to try something different from their previous works. Whether Coldplay succeeds or not, lets give them props from going out of their comfort zone :)
  20. Ghost Stories is surely going to be PLATINUM in the US. 100% sure. Worst case scenario: 1.4 million in the US Best Case Scenario: 2 Million in the US.
  21. yes ur right, its just a matter of opinion. but lets not conclude that this album will flop just because some people in this forum dont like it
  22. also add there Rihanna's we found love and 30 second to mars songs. :D
  23. yeah, cuz liking or not liking of a song is extremely subjective.
  24. i hope we can hear a snippet of ASFOS' intro so we can have an idea of what it will sound like.
