  1. I'm using SM57s for my guitar AMP and they're great. As far as I know, they are good for Snare and Toms. You should look for a mic which can record low frequencies for the bassdrum (Shure Beta 52A would probably be a good choice) and two condenser mics as overheads for the cymbals.
  2. Chords would be good! I'm thinking of anything else than the guitar for my version. Maybe a Fix You-like organ thing or something?
  3. At first: I like the sound of your guitar pickups! Mine do sound a way more metallic (which I love, too). Your voice doesn't sound so precise when singing the low parts and the very high parts, you can work on that (it's the same problem with my voice). However, I like your singing during the chorus (I assume it's the chorus; never heard the original). The voice sometimes sounds a bit like theres a phaser on it or something, did you want it to sound like that?
  4. I suggest we all record our own cover of this song and then we can listen and find the best things and do a version together. Is that okay? Can you post the chords and lyrics? (I'm too lazy to find them out :P)
  5. I could do the guitar and, if no one else wants to do it I could play drums and bass (but I'm not such a good drummer or bass player). So is there anyone who would like to give an unfinished original song or create a new one?
  6. Oh yes, an original song would be way cooler. And yes, .wav-Files would be better. I didn't think about that. Does anyone have an original song he/she would like to give for this project?
  7. I'm so sorry. Just checked my webserver configuration and it appears that I told it to block all connections from Brazil. Updated it, it should work now. Sorry!
  8. Woops, really? Works for me. I'll upload a full package on megaupload or something else.
  9. Edit: An original song would be way cooler. If there is anyone who has an unfinished song and would like to complete it, it would be so cool if we could finish it together! I just came up with that idea, that many covers could be so much better if people would work together. (yes, I came up with this while making a cover..) So I thought why not uploading my whole project file and asking other people to improve it? (It works with software (open source), so why not with music?) So here it is, my recently recorded cover of Kylie's Can't Get You Out Of My Head in the Coldplay-Glastonbury-Version. (so it's actually a cover of a cover). Feel free to download, listen, comment, like, dislike, improve or whatever you wan't to do! And if you share it here, it would be so cool. Link 1: Audacity Data-Directory, compressed (201MB) Link 2: Audacity Projectfile, uncompressed (67KB) Link 3: Exported MP3 file of current state, uncompressed (9,4MB) The record now features: Bass, Drums (I'm no really good drummer), E-Guitar, Piano The muted track is the original I used as "orientation", you can delete it if you don't need it. Hope you like my idea and it would be so cool if you take part in this project!
  10. I've never noticed the little "Charlie Brown" in the left bottom corner. However, I think it looks legit. Let's see and wait, like we always do. Until someone comes up with something more legit.
  11. I don't have own songs which I would like to publish yet, but if I had, I'd ask you! Just asking, I never really understood what the process of mastering and mixing really includes (or especially, how they differ) - could you explain that to me?
  12. I can imagine how great this would sound if there would be drums kicking in and it finishes kinda like death and all his friends or christmas lights.
  13. If you're not sure about your voice, try to record a few things and listen to it. At first, it will sound terribly to you but if you get used to it, you will be able to judge for yourself if you like your voice or not. Gives some kind of self-confidence, I guess.
  14. I'm so happy they did this. I woke up half an hour before the sale started, but there was no chance to get a ticket. Now I got my 4 tickets and I could go to Rock Am Ring and then fly to London :D:D
  15. Fürs nächste mal werden alle, die gewinnen und auf die Frage "wie viele Alben hast du denn?" mit "vier" antworten AUFGESCHRIEBEN, GEJAGT UND GELYNCHT... und die Tickets gehen dann an mich.
  16. Yes, that could help! Post again if you did, I'm looking forward to it!
  17. It's not bad but for me it's not "special" enough.. if you know what I mean :D
  18. I'm not sure why you upload it if you don't think it's good?
  19. I like it, but I'd also say that you could improve the singing and your production techniques. I'd also say that another drum sound could improve the "power" of the song, the one you're using sounds a bit "loose". @Lobabe: Hey! Don't say anything against orange and blue, these are the colours of my new website... :D
  20. Amazing. It's easy to hear that you really thought about what you're doing and not just recorded something like "oh well okay I think I could do better but let's just do it that way." (which is what I aim to do and think is very important) Love the drums!
  21. I was also searching for a good way to do drums without paying a lot of money. I ended up buying an Alesis DM10 e-drum kit, so I wasn't really successfully in finding an alternative way... Although it was quite expensive I'm glad I bought it and I don't have to rely on a software which is probably tricky to use.
  22. Dasding also gives away some tickets. Hopefully theres one for me :) http://www.dasding.de/#http://www.dasding.de/musik/Merih-Kotta-Coldplay-Tickets-Gewinnspiel/-/id=286/vv=content/nid=286/did=446782/ghzxv0/index.html
  23. I used to remove all, now I do 3/3. None of my guitars ever got damaged, I guess this is just an advice you should follow if you want to make sure that nothing happens.
