===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
I think Coldplay will always suffer from their first four releases anyway, even if EL turns out to be a great album. VLV was so good imo that it would now need a masterpiece to be able to equal it or at least get close. Still too early to rank it for me, but EL is definitely closer to the first four albums than MX/GS/AHFOD. It is clearly a step forward. I think it has some modern Coldplay flaws and fillers that won't make me like it as much as the first four (minus X&Y maybe) overtime. At least they go somewhere with this album, so we can be happy in the end. EL has some bangers that could even be better if they were played live.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
First listen done, too early to give a clear review but what I'm sure of is that this is definitely the most interesting release since Viva. The short songs are cool/interesting/not so-Coldplay enough to be more than fillers we will forget. I don't think there is a single bad song in it, I agree with BrokEN being too American but I can do with it. At least it's different, I'm just happy to see Coldplay going out of their comfort zone! Will need more listens for some songs though (as I Ran Away said you can clearly hear what song has been produced by Stargate :/ ). Favorites at first sight: Champion of the World (!!!), Daddy, Trouble in Town, Arabesque, Eko, Old Friends.

2020 Tour, Festivals, Shows
https://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/topic/232175-pinkpop-2020/page/5/?tab=comments#comment-5808999 It has also been reported on efestivals today (may be the same guy), says his source was right on Fleetwood Mac and The Cure last year. And it was not refuted by Ken who's another insider. What is interesting is that some of the biggest festivals in Europe (Pinkpop, Werchter) are quite late in announcing their first headliner. In Werchter case, some argue that it has to do with Pearl Jam tour. But Pinkpop could well be waiting for Coldplay to release EL and then announce some summer dates? I don't know, I'm just speculating.

Trying not to get too excited as we've only heard 20% of the LP (and as there are still some flaws of modern Coldplay/Chris writing and vocals here and there), but this is probably the best start to a new era for a long while. Really hoping I can go back to this thread in 15 days to tell once and for all that Everyday Life is the best Coldplay work since Viva.

Haha the similarity between both titles also crossed my mind. Church to feature Lauren on vocals then ?

Arabesque - Sunrise
Just saw on the lyrics video that I actually made a small mistake on the LP8 topic regarding the French verse. It is not "comme provenant de la même mer (sea)" but "comme provenant de la même mère (mother)".
-
Arabesque - Sunrise
It is in my opinion the best Coldplay song in terms of inspiration, risk taking and final output in the last 10 years.

For those who listened to the leaks, there are some differences in Orphans right? Or I am dreaming.

Regarding the French verse on Arabesque: [spoiler=Spoiler alert]"Comme deux gouttes d’eau On se ressemble Comme provenant de la même mer Comme deux ruisseaux Qui se rassemblent Pour faire les grandes rivières" "Like two drops of water We look alike As coming from the same sea Like two streams Who gather To make big rivers" And yeah, is Jonny singing this verse?

Could not resist to listen to the leaks, sorry @Coldplay. I'll still buy the vinyl! [spoiler=Reactions in spoiler]OH MY GOD Arabesque. I can also see the similarity with some of NGHFB's work in the beginning. Brass. That verse in French. Totally different from what they have done in the past. I may have been harsh with Coldplay recent work sometimes regarding their (imo) lack of inspiration, I can only be satisfied. Orphans is quite short but catchy as hell. Even Chris' voice (which I was a bit tired of in the last era) does not bother me at all.

Sine Spe Recuperandi and That Sister Is My Brother have been registered on APRA, Conscious Pilot on ASCAP, but I don't know where is Breaking Down Walls coming from either.

I understand your feelings and it also crossed my mind. But what I like here is that he's not just giving a release date as other did, but also some insights (somewhat vague, but he can't reveal everything ofc) on the band touring plans. From what I've read from him in the last few weeks it definitely opens the door for a Werchter date for instance. At least with the Sao Paulo poster we're almost certain the LP is coming on November 22. ColdplayCorner also mentioned yesterday that the single would be delayed until Friday 25th IIRC. One of their members came on the Discord saying they have their sources. I don't know what to think, I assume that last minute delays happen in the industry...

Typical Coldplay we will get a lot of promo in advance of the release." Still mentions a single this friday. There's also interesting stuff regarding a festival tour that could have taken place this summer.

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I’ve been following the efestivals forum for the last few months, and he’s highly regarded there. I don’t know if he’s directly linked to Livenation but he has been sharing a lot of clues on future bands and details on the negotiation process between bands and EU (mainly Belgian) festivals. He’s been active for one year or so only, so not much Coldplay stuff to share regarding festivals, apart from this post last month: https://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/topic/230017-rock-werchter-2020/?do=findComment&comment=5772387 « If Herman has the chance to book them for RW or one of his day festivals ... he would not think twice. Werchter was the first festival in Europe, not UK, that put Coldplay high on their line up (co headliner 2002, only with parachutes), that is something that the agent and management of the band still remembers… » He’s been spreading the word that Werchter wants Coldplay for the last few weeks so I highly doubt that his today's post comes out of nowhere. I could be completely mistaken but I'm sure he's legit and highly regarded by the efestivals community.

https://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/topic/230017-rock-werchter-2020/page/20/#comments Ken19 also announces "Friday news about new music Coldplay" on the Werchter forum! He's a legit insider when it comes to EU festivals and I'm yet to see him fail a prediction. This is looking good...

Good catch this one. It also appears to happen with Arcade Fire, and the band is to reissue their Tunnels 7" single for RSD in late November. https://www.amazon.fr/s?k=arcade+fire&__mk_fr_FR=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 We may be onto something.

I would not be surprised to see the band doing a festival tour next summer. Some insiders on the efestivals forum lean towards this idea too, we'll see in the coming days/weeks. Anyway that is the news we've all been waiting for!

Nothing too important but may be worth mentioning. You may have noticed on Instagram that Davide Rossi was in a studio in Paris two days ago. http://www.lessentiel.lu/fr/luxembourg/story/chris-martin-etait-aussi-present-pour-rammstein-10217907 According to this article it is very likely to be Coldplay related, as Chris was also in Paris for "recording sessions" before attending the Rammstein gig.

[2017-7-16] Stade de France, Paris, France
Same, but the fact that I hate the studio version didnt help :D The piano is just... meh, as well as the vocals. If they werent ready to play it they should have played Miracles (SS) which sounded quite good in Milan. Especially since it was part of the original setlist on Sunday.

[2017-7-16] Stade de France, Paris, France
I watched it on a low quality Periscope so not sure if he said next tour or next leg. But playing Kaleidoscope songs on the US leg would make more sense. Unless they dont even consider promoting the EP....

[2017-7-16] Stade de France, Paris, France
Chris has just sung Hypnotised on the C-Stage. "We were supposed to debut it on the next tour" he said.

[2017-7-16] Stade de France, Paris, France
:( That was also my fear as the Stade de France can attract a much more diverse audience, but I found them really involved, at least during the choruses. My only disappointment would be Clocks (not because of the lip-sync, i managed to forget it :D ). As my all-time favorite it was a great moment for sure, but I found it a bit flat during the second part (i really miss the Twisted Logic Tour version...) and the crowd didnt really seem in it. But maybe I'm wrong.

[2017-7-16] Stade de France, Paris, France
That was amazing. I went to Brussels last month and yesterday was even better ! Thanks to an amazing crowd and place. GPASUYF <3 Birds is my favorite from AHFOD but I missed a rockier song on the setlist. Amazing. And OH MY GOD I wasnt expecting BOTH In My Place and Trouble on the C-Stage. Despite watching it on the screens as we had a really good spot near the barriers, Trouble was probably my highlight on the night. But not much sing along during it, as if the crowd didnt know the song. :/

Miracles (Someone Special) ft. Big Sean
Interesting song as expected after listening to the live version. But IMO the first 1:30 sounded way better live, i dont really like the intro and Chris singing at the beginning. It flows better with Jonny's guitar parts, which are quite amazing (as always).
