  1. Am I the only one? Am I the only one who actually kinda liked it? I had SUPER low expectations for this video... I was scared it might be some slutty Rhianna shit video... I was honestly pleasantly surprised. I thought it was kinda cool...neat and interesting. I really don't like the song all that much but this video actually made me kinda like it some more. Also, I hated the CB video. I think we coldplay fans are spoiled as far as videos are concerned coldplay usually puts out really surprisingly good videos, most other bands put out really random shit. I dig.
  2. So I've been to two coldplay shows so far (wish I could have gone to more) and I'm planning on going to the one in Charlotte, NC. Both times I've bought my tickets I've nearly thrown my computer out the window due to frustration. Both times I went for the pre-sale and queued my computer up to click on the buy tickets now button as soon as they were available. However, both times I have only been able to get seats about 18-20 rows back. Is there a secret of some sort to getting closer? I swear you have to bribe your way to get closer than 15 rows idk how these people do it. Any ideas?
  3. Glad to see im not the only one who loves high speed
  4. Definitely find it interesting that people have such varying opinions of coldplay albums. I think parachutes is by far their best effort. It seems everyone thinks a rush of blood is the best though. I can never get enough parachutes and I hope one day theyll do an album like that again butttt i dont think that will happen unfortunately. This album definitely isn't their weakest but Ill agree I was expecting a little more from the acoustic stuff. I love UATW but sometimes that constant strumming of the guitar is just too repetitive. Definitely still growing on me though.
  5. Ahaha nice. I wouldn't say the resistance was that terrible but I expected better from another one of my favorite bands. But then again I might just have a problem latching on to the past. Ill always like older muse better (origin...showbiz..) and ill ALWAYS like older coldplay better (blue room, parachutes, every other old amazing b-side)
  6. Yea. They're somewhat growing on me though... But they are a tad annoying especially at first. Love the song though
  7. Without a doubt I think Parachutes is their best. It's also my favorite album period. Coldplay will never beat that album.
  8. Its decent I'll have to re-review this in a week or so because I need to let it sink in. Overall, I think it's good. But I can't help thinking that this album would have been much better without the insane amount of production that went into this. I guess I'll do this track by track MX: One of my favorite moments of the album, gives me that same warm fuzzy feeling that Life in technicolor gives me and I love the way it leads into HLH. excellent Hurts Like Heaven: I love love love love the live version of this. So much to say that it was close to being in my top 10 all time coldplay songs. However, on the album the production wounded it alot, it felt soooo glossed over. The vocal effects keep distracting me. Overall its still a great song and the outro is beautiful, and its a special moment on the album. But there was really no need for those vocal effects IMO. It was kinda funny cause when I heard those effects on letterman I was like, thats weird, the sound must be messing up....nope. Still good though Paradise: Hated it at first, Grew on me, its pretty good. Though, I felt it was awkwardly out of place here, it seems they lead into a lot of songs on the album but for some reason didn't lead into this one. It feels really weird after HLH. And honestly im getting tired of it. Charlie Brown: Great, better live, but still good. Love love the outro. Could have done with less of those weird noises in the beginning and through out but it wasn't too overdone, def one of my favs on the album UATW: Superb, this was excellent on the album. I would have liked a little changeup with the strumming pattern of the acoustic guitar but it was great. MMIX: Pointless other than the last few seconds of lead-in for ETIAW, not really sure why this was on here. ETIAW: Grew on me a lot, I like this song now, its a happy song and I like the lyrics. I know this one got a lot of hate in the beginning (myself included) but I think it kinda captured what the album was about, being happy thorough friendship and all. UFO: Pretty good, I feel like it will grow on me, I like the guitar work. I felt like it could have done without the strings. Im kinda getting tired of every coldplay song erupting into strings. PoC: Is this a bad song? No. I'm not like one of those hipster radiohead fans that despises anything pop. Its a good pop song. BUT BUT BUT. I do not want this on a COLDPLAY album, it just does not belong here. It is not what I want to hear when I think coldplay. If Chris wants to go record some pop songs with people, let him, just don't put it on the coldplay album. Up in Flames: Very dissapointed in this one. The bass and drums are just absolutely obnoxious in this track. And the piano work an lyrics are just so cliche, I felt silly listening to this song. Though, I do like the guitar work at the end. Also, this being right after POC feels awkward as hell. When he sings And its Overrrr.... whats over chris? And the melody is annoying A hopeful transmission: I had high hoped for this one but I was dissapointed when I found out it was only and instrumental. And as an instrumental its not too spectacular. DLIBYH: I feel like this will grow on me. But with all this post production couldn't they have mixed it better? You can hardly hear chris and it sounds fuzzy. Also, the guitar lick seems like a sped up ETIAW lick. And I kind of don't feel like the song goes anywhere. But ill wait and see. Up with da Birds: I like this one and I feel like ill like it more and more. Though that weird sound is kinda jarring. I love the intro/outro of it. Im interested to see how this album grows on me ill have to see how I feel in a week. I just have this feeling like im going to get tired of these songs fast. There aren't many times on the album where I get that real coldplay feeling that I'm used to on their other albums. I'm worried for the direction they're heading. Chris is always saying how the POC song was his favorite part of the album and if thats the case... what will the next album be like?! They'll never beat parachutes in my opinion, but I think they can do a bit better than Mylo Xyloto. Hopefully ill change my mind! holy shit I wrote alot
  9. Well, actually I found out that it is actually the 24th for the US. So I'm gunna head to barnes and noble tomorrow morning I guess!
  10. I really want to get the hard copy... but Im also reallllyy impatient ive been waiting too long. What is everyone else doing?
  11. Ohhhhhhhh.... so if I go to best buy tomorrow morning will it be there for me?
  12. Not Sure I am so confused by this release date. How do people come to this Oct. 25th conclusion? I looked at all the major retailers of CD's and they all say its releasing the 24th. Itunes is set for the 24th release. Yet here and billlboard say 25th. Where is this from?! I'm tempted the rip the album if it doesn't come out at midnight tonight. It's not fair! lol i've thought it was the 24th for too long. Also, the coldplay official website for preordering hard copy cd's says usa/canada is 24th
  13. The day that Paradise was coming out I set my alarm for 2:50 am (im on east coast) so that I could listen to the first playing of the song on BBC 1. I started listen and I thought cool intro.. then I thought.. uh oh this beat.. ill hold on.. first verse ehhhh.. and then after the para para I just straight up turned it off, frustrated. Then of course the next day I listened to it a million times and every time I listened I liked something new.. cool melody, the OH oh oh OHOH oh oh oh part was fun to sing a long to, even the para para paradise became fun. Now, I like the song pretty well (still not my favorite of course) but I think its pretty good. My only gripe is that bridge (it gets so heavy.. i thought that could have been more lyrically sophisticated), but I like the melody and energy of the song. Oh and live its like 10 times better. Anyone else have a change of heart?
  14. So true!!, same with their openers, and so far I love Hurts like heaven (one of the only tracks I truly love from this era so far). So I have high hopes for Up with the Birds
  15. Pretty good I'd have to give it a 7/10 for now. Though it really isn't fair to rate because it's based on an iphone recorded version. It does make me hopeful that other songs will be simple as well. But in general I agree with what people have been saying here that it's missing something. I'm not too crazy about the chorus either, but that could change if I heard a proper version. I don't know why a lot of these songs are having such repetitive choruses, I haven't been too crazy about them. Though as I say that, Im suddenly thinking about A Whisper.. but somehow that repetition doesn't bother me. That album just needs to come out.
