I do believe you're misinterpreting her post. 1. It might've been at just that period of time, but there appeared to be a lot of posts criticizing ETIAW at that point. I still see people prefering other songs to Paradise because it's "just too popular" (I'm not saying that everyone thinks that; I've just seen a lot of it) - it has deducted my love for it a bit. It's peer pressure, basically. Although you may not see it, we still feel it. 2. See above. Peer pressure is extremely influential. I think someone has said (possibly on this thread; not sure) that music is pretty much part of who you are. I define myself partly in terms of my music tastes. If someone says about a song you love - "that song is a bunch of rubbish!" then you feel ashamed for liking that song. Yeah, you listen to it in secret, but you're afraid to say you're in love with that song out loud. 3. I think you're failing to make several distinctions that are important here. a) Yes, I believe that everyone has a right to express their opinion. Which is precisely why I'm going to say this - people should have a right to have their opinions respected. I'm making a distinction between this - "Coldplay is AWFUL. How could you possible like them?" - and this - "I personally don't like Coldplay, but I won't hate you for liking them." b) See above. What I mean by "constructive" criticism, is, like I said above, respectful. (Maybe even beyond respectful - perhaps more objective.) But basically, fi people have a respect for your music tastes, I'm fine with it. I just feel offended by words like "awful", "terrible", etc. because that kind of implies that everyone agrees with those terms (note: IMPLIED - I'm not saying that they're actually saying this), while if you say "dislike", then you're acknowledging that you have an opinion which is not necessarily universal/ c) There IS a great base of fandom here, and that provides a lot of support for Coldplayer pride. However, once you go out into the big world, Coldplayers are a tiny minority - only a small amount of people know anything beyond their major hits (Clocks, the Scientist, Fix You, Viva la Vida, Paradise, ETIAW, etc.) and an even fewer amount know all of the singles. An even smaller amount know some of their more obscure songs and b-sides. - I will stop rambling now -

Yes. I feel like her popular songs don't represent her fairly - I really love her sad songs. Gravity, Breathe Again, Hold My Heart, Between the Lines. Definitely underrated. I also really love Fairytale and Come Round Soon. And she has a new EP coming out! :D
