The U2 singer is among a host of names stepping in as guest editors of BBC Radio 4’s 'Today' programme, following a similar experiment with Thom Yorke last Christmas. Bono will be given the reigns of the UK’s most prestigious radio news programme in the week after Christmas. Each day of the week beginning December 27 will see a different guest editor, with the line-up including Sir Richard Branson, The Duchess Of York, director Anthony Minghella and Baroness Onora O’Neill, according to the BBC. Bono, who spoke at this year’s Labour Party conference, will use the platform to highlight the AIDS epidemic in Africa and the crippling consequences of third world debt.
