  1. Is there a specific reason why my mixtape isn't in the first post? I've put the link up and it's been reviewed...
  2. Yeah and there's the live version of Sorry from Tivoli, which is on his album. But the Lowlands one is just the finest ;)
  3. Nope, they're a British band, one of my favourite artists. Usually they do a bit rougher stuff, some screaming and such ;)
  4. Porcupine Tree - "Arriving Somewhere, But Not Here"
  5. Aw cool. I'll see how much I can scare you and Sirhc with it :P Btw, may I ask what country you're from, Deirdre?
  6. Yep, seen dEUS live twice. Helpt als je van de buren komt, toch? :P But anyway, I'll give you an example, if you like it the deal's on! ;) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9055NLRl-6Y]YouTube- ENTER SHIKARI - JUGGERNAUTS - official promo video[/ame]
  7. Listening to Arriving Somewhere But Not Here now... LOVING it.
  8. Really? :) What kinda bands do you like?
  9. This is a British experimental folk band called Tunng. They use all these funny little samples and weird instruments. Glad you like it! This is (again) a British indie-folk band, Noah and the Whale. And yes, their song has been used in about 5 or 6 ads! You might have heard this song by Crooked Fingers in the American TV series "Chuck" ;) You're right about the guitar sound, I love that too! This is actually a young Dutch trumpet player who goes by the stage name Kyteman. He made a huge impression on the Dutch music scene last year with his hip-hop orchestra, going from a first performance for 200 people to about 20.000 8 months later. Unfortunately there's no actual live CD for this, I recorded it from the TV broadcast of the live show I was at... This a Belgian folk band. They play a lot at folk balls, in my hometown among others. This is music meant for dancing a waltz too, the literal translation of the song title is "Cruel Waltz". This is a Canadian band called Patrick Watson. I got my mom into these guys :P This song is one of my favorites of 2010 already! British singer-songwriter Tom McRae (so yes, it is a man) off his latest release. Definitely Yann Tiersen, this is on a live CD. Johnny Flynn is or used to be Laura Marling's boyfriend :) Niiiice :nice: Feist ft. Ben Gibbard, off the dark Was The Night compilation album. This is the only rather old song on the mix, from 1973. Tom Waits before he drank a gallon of bourbon a day and smoked millions of cigars ;) This is a side-project called The Almost. All the instruments are played by Aaron Gillespie, who is also the drummer/singer for post-hardcore/metalcore band Underoath, one of my favorites! Interesting trivia: he's blind in one eye and color-blind in the other. This is by Canadian twins Tegan & Sara. I absolutely respect the fact that you were ill, I'm very happy you got to reviewing it anyway! :) I do like folk/acoustic music, but I'm also into completely different (loud-ass) stuff like drum 'n bass, post-hardcore, punk, ska and indie rock. http://rapidshare.com/files/343396231/mixtape_for_Lore.zip.html This is the complete tracklisting: 01. Crooked Fingers - Louisa's Bones 02. Tom McRae - Out of the Walls 03. The Almost - Monster 04. Tunng - Bullets 05. Tegan & Sara - Nineteen (acoustic) 06. Kyteman's Hiphop Orkest - Sorry (live @ Lowlands 2009) 07. Johnny Flynn - Eyeless in Holloway 08. Laura Marling - Your Only Doll (Dora) / Alas I Cannot Swim 09. Tom Waits - Hope I Don't Fall In Love With You 10. Johnny Cash - Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover) 11. Yann Tiersen - Summer '78 (instrumental) 12. Lebocha - Wrede Wals 13. Noah and the Whale - 5 Years Time 14. Feist & Ben Gibbard - The Train Song 15. Patrick Watson - Drifters If anyone is interested in a loud-ass mixtape, lemme know! I'd love to throw something together!

  12. Woah, I said nothing about being angry with you, I was just afraid you wouldn't react at all. Take it easy.
  13. Who has btw not been online in a week...
  14. Yeah, there's even earlier stuff from when they were Shrug, or Polar Bear.
  15. Can HAZ?
  16. It's a salamander. They look so weird cause never undergo metamorphosis as a larva, so they just grow bigger until they look like this and keep their gills.
  17. That's Moby :) "Hold on to people, they're slipping away".
  18. No-one likes demo tapes? Gosh...
  19. I though it might be fun try and find the earliest possible releases/songs from bands we like. If you know anything, just post it. Preferably something from before the band's full-length debut, and it's even better if the actual music can be found. If you are interested in any of the stuff below, PM me ;) Some stuff to start off: Coldplay - Ode to Deodorant (1998) U2 - Three EP (1979) Muse - Muse EP & Muscle Museum EP (1998 & 1999) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Red Hot Chili Peppers (demos) (1983)
  20. Listen to Alphabet of Hurricanes by Tom McRae. A taste: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGzOPHGzXNY&feature=channel]YouTube- Tom McRae / Alphabet of Hurricanes[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9va08ZucCGc]YouTube- Out Of The Walls.m4v[/ame]
  21. My (new) partner has posted that (s)he wanted to listen to my tape more... I'm very curious what they think though!
