1. actually, the chorus might have a slightly different sequence that starts with G#. if you can play by ear, start the chorus with G# and use any of those notes in the G# major scale above.
2. Honestly, it's sounds overly simplistic. I know hey do a lot of things that appear simple on the surface but are actually more complex than people realize. But this bass line is very straight forward from what i see. The song is in the key of G#major and the same progression of bass notes remains the same throughout the verses and chorus. It's C#/D#/A#/F I always respected the melody and lyrics but this isn't one of my favorite coldplay works so i never really learned it inside and out. the f definitely sounds like a minor, but as a bassist that might not be particularly important. any of these notes should work in a base line for viva. G#/A#/C/C#/D#/F/G probably favoring the sharps and the F note. hope that's helpful
3. Is attaching an image possible? It's good visually to see.
4. There's viva la Vida note for note. I'm a guitarist first and foremost. What's the best way to communicate the bass line to you. Just note by note? You bass players don't typically play chords correct or polyphonic expressions correct?
5. One sec. If you haven't tried it, melodyne does a 30 day free demo. Impressive stuff. Only have 10 days left. More useful than just simple pitch correction for vocal tracks
6. Ill try throwing it into melodyne and seeing if it separates it correctly. Sometimes that software is pretty good for dissecting a song note for note if you need to fix things or just want to learn a song.
7. Daylight. Standard tuning. Capo 2nd fret. Chords relative to capo. Emaj. Then a D chord with second string open. So 1st string 2nd fret, 2nd string open and 3rd string second fret (it's an E6), then and F maj. With 1st and 2nd strings open. Basically an F barre chord minus the full barre the back to Emaj. Chorus, 1st string second fret, open 2nd and 3rd string 4th fret, 4th and fifth string 5th fret, 6th string 3rd fret (Amaj7), then first three strings open, 4th string 2nd fret, 5th and 6th strings 3rd fret (Dmaj 7), then Emaj (Fmajor). Every fret relative to capo.
8. Dreadful. Just kidding man that's literally indistinguishable from the album track. Good work
9. Has anyone worked this one out (lukas)? I've played it a few different ways. A very coldplay tuning of EADGBD# Works with every chord well except the Asus2 or whatever that third chord is. I saw one post on here but i'm not too sure that's what CM is doing. Thanks guys. If anyone has had trouble playing daylight the song on guitar i'll post an accurate straight forward way to do it not too awkwardly if anyone likes. here's what the guitar i do for it sounds like. https://soundcloud.com/cedmo013/daylight
10. I probably posted this in the wrong area. Apologies, I'm a newbie. I'll at least offer this for the theme of this discussion bored, I think with the capo on th second fret, the guitar is tuned to A4=434hz. I'll have to double check but, im sure it could make a guy scratch his head because it takes a minute to work that out. Then it's just basically sliding a C chord up and down the neck with a g bass note trying not to squeak the strings too much. Thanks :)
11. Think some of you might enjoy this. I put the album track through a different EQ and added my acoustic guitar but did not paint a mustache on this nice painting. https://soundcloud.com/cedmo013/you-were-an-island I have more if interested. Cheers
12. Whoops. Right side up this time. I asked him what his impression was of CM. hoping for some thoughtful response. All he could must was was, nice surprisingly tall and jacked.
13. Here's another pic from East Hamton My friend met Chris at the East Hampton thing. Said he was nice as could be. He know I'm a huge fan so he sent me this pic.
