  1. Coldplay - What If
  2. That song is freaking amazing. "My thoughts are misguided and a little naive I twitch and I salivate like with myxomatosis" Coldplay - How you see the world
  3. I'm going to speak my mind. I am an INSANELY OBSESSED fan of both. I bet I'm a bigger fan than everyone in this thread of Radiohaed :smug: but I don't know. I have a right and I'm in a good position to compare the two considering I know and love every last song and b-side released by both of them. (I'm listening to How I made my millions while typing this) First off, let me say, they're both VERY different. They've both made me feel unique and different feelings. * Coldplay: This band is amazing :3. What I like about them is the way they structure their songs. I honestly see a huge difference between Radiohead and Coldplay's song structure. Now I could talk about the way they write their songs for hours, but I think a better way of putting this down is to compare songs. * Radiohead: This band is also amazing. A lot of their songs take a lot of listens to get into, and once they click, its amazing. One thing Radiohead has that Coldplay doesn't is the kind of music that REALLY gets me dancing. And I mean flailing my arms around dancing. Bodysnatchers, Go to Sleep, 15 Steps.... When 15 steps clicked for mean I was like "HOLY CRAP!". Ok, lets compare songs: I Bloom Blaum: I absolutley love the beautiful yet haunting guitar on this song. It is a short masterpiece with a beautiful melody and guitar throughout. Help is Round the Corner: I picked this song because I really like it. The chords get me every time. I learned to play this on guitar a while back, and I just love the way the chords transition. No Surprises: Holy crap. This song gets me high. I LOVE the structure. The structure is GENUIS. It goes through the verses, with a short and simple chorus, goes through an instrumental bridge of sorts, and then comes back with the verse in a beautiful way. Ok I need to stop. CONCLUSION: Both are totally different. You can't pick one over the other. Overall, heres what I want to say. Coldplay feels more "reliable" to me. It feels more like home. No matter what they release, I know I will like it. It is a great to listen to when I just want some comfort music. I need to be in a mood to truly appreciate radiohead, but I guess that's a good thing. They're both great in their own ways and cannot be compared.
  4. Thanks. Its just Coldplay has been the biggest inspiration to me and Chris and the guys feel like "friends" even though I've never met them. One day I'm going to meet him though. I know it.
  5. Well I've basically grew up listening to Coldplay. I'm 16 years old, and ever since I was 12 I've been listening to Coldplay. From about 12 - 14 I listening to nothing but Coldplay. I've branched out to more bands such as Radiohead (completely obsessed with them too). I've listened to them so much that my friend and I were playing guitar and singing one day and we noticed how extremely similar I was singing to Chris Martin. I had adapted his vocal style just from so much listening. Every time Coldplay is brought up, I feel extremely proud and always let everyone know about how awesome they are. They kind of feel like parents to me. More than just a band I listen to. They inspire me so much in my hopes of starting a band myself one day. But I have a fear of meeting Chris or one of them. His voice is the one that fills my ear hours a day, and I've watched their interviews and know them too well. If I met them, what if they didn't have much time and were short with me? What if they skipped me if I wanted an autograph? This would completely crush me. Idk, I feel like I don't want to meet Coldplay because of this. They say you should never meet your heroes. Anyone else feel this way?
  6. omg i live in virginia... I could drive down to NYC right now.
  7. I'm betting they're going to play the new song. I may be wrong, but I'm betting on it. It may have a slight Ghost Stories vibe, but the strings and guitar definitely have a brighter sound. It's nothing "dark" as far as we can tell, the lyrics portray that its simply a happy love song. Interesting theories, I'm exited to find out what's gonna happen!
  8. So, I was listening to We suck young blood by radiohead and I was like "hey that sounds like a Coldplay song." Sure enough, it sounds similar to First Steps (Demo). Go listen to First Steps (Demo) the second piano part, and go to We Suck young blood by Radiohead to the part at 2:58 in. Just pointing it out, they sound kind of similar.
  9. Ok so all of this time i have been able to listen to radiohead, and I'm sorry, but I haven't listened to most of the recommended bands. Anyone who wants some music can check them out though. RADIOHEAD is soo good. All their songs are just great, if you haven't heard them and you like Coldplay go listen to them dang my #2 band now so close to Coldplay.
  10. You don't need to swear in songs. There's seriously not point. Once you swear in a song, its marked [Explicit] and all this does is limit purchases by people who don't like swearing and you can't play it on the radio without changing it! Whats the point?
  11. Ok, I'll need a few days to listen to all of those bands lol... thanks a bunch though. Lets narrow this down even more lol: Ok what radiohead songs would I like considering I like these: No surprises how to disappear completely creep (kinda) fake pastic trees high and dry nice dream
  12. Well in live 2012 he says f word once in Major minus, hurts like heaven, and GPASUYF
  13. So far the bends has been my favorite album. The only song I like from Kid A is how to disappear completely. OK Computer has no surprises. And I'll give all those other bands a try.
  14. I said minus the man who swears :P. He also said the F word once in GS Live.
  15. I've noticed that Coldplay doesn't swear in any of their released songs (minus live albums and Lost+, the man who swears and idiot don't count). Is there any interview or something where they give a reason for them doing this? I really respect this choice because I can play it anywhere I want, knowing Coldplay is clean. I hope they never swear in their new albums (I doubt they will).
  16. I agree I don't like yes. Spies is great! Starts out slow and eerie, then moves to the bridge which is great! X&Y.... HOW can ANYONE put this... one of my FAVORITE songs from X&Y "You and me are floating on a tidal wave".... Up IN Flames is good. The guitar riff near the end i don't agree with, and the "pour some water on" doesn't really fit IMO but its an overall great song! "So its over.........."
  17. None of those bands did anything, none of them were anything like I described. Thanks though for looking ! None of them sounded anything like coldplay or radiohead. Like if I never heard of radiohead, and I was making this thread, a good band to recommend would be radiohead lol..
  18. Well lets narrow it down a bit. Songs that start with an acoustic or piano, with a really nice melody and its all slow, then theres the chorus and it builds a bit, then go back to the verse adding drums and guitar, and then of course a bridge and all the intruments are together and its so awesome u wanna cry. That's why I like Coldplay a lot of their songs are like that
  19. Soo I've been listening to this "Low Roar", and its not exactly what I'm looking for (RHYME). I like the slower start (like in No Surprises and Fake Plastic Trees), and then going back to the verse or chorus but adding drums and other instruments, that is what has the effect on me.
  20. Is embrace any good? I don't like their performance of Gravity... thanks for the bands Batman I'm trying them now
  21. Y'all are insane: High Speed (Never has really done anything to me Daylight (I like a whisper. You don't hear it very often, its kind of hiding and I always like hearing it) Twisted Logic (How can you say What If or X&Y?? Both amazing songs!) Cemeteries of London / Yes (I really don't like the verse of C.O.L, but it gets better later I guess) Charlie Brown (I'm not choosing POC because too many people pick that, and Charlie Brown gets old after a while) O Reprise (GOSH DANG, I hate having to wait 5 minutes for this, and it's not even that good IMO.)
  22. Just heard nice dream while listening to the bends its good
  23. When you get a little burned out of Coldplay, you take a break, then you go back and its five times as awesome as it was before. So, I've been listening to some radiohead. Some of the songs are a little bit too fast and weird for me, so, I'm wondering what band should I listen to... I like No surprises, fake plastic trees, and a little bit of creep (the ending), how to disappear completely.. Not the crazy sounds everywhere blowing out my ears... So Coldplay + The Radiohead I like = ? Also, any other Radiohead songs i might like after what I said earlier? TY just looking for some music to listen to so I can let me Coldplay recharge a bit.
  24. We all have our Coldplay song phases, The world turned upside down was one of my best though. The whole song is good, but then it goes to the end part which is like so freakin good how the heck is this not all anyone is ever talking about "can't see the wave your riding on"
