Para, para, parody!!! (VIDEO IN 1ST POST! Pai's song on page 3)
Awww, thanks for all the love, everyone! ♥ Hope you laughed just as much listening to it as I did recording it! (I had to cut a few times cuz I couldnt help bursting out with laughter. See, I had this epically cheesy KanYe, Jay-Z, Rihanna and BSB video in my head all the while...) Osaka Sun, I have no idea why it would sound better than the real instrumental bit... Do you know what I was thinking, that instrumental bit just before the final 'para, para, parachutes' chorus should include some over-the-top male rapping (like so many songs these days), but I couldn't do it. I can't rap to save my life, and I fail at sounding like a man. Haha! You guys are welcome to do what you like with the recording. I'd be more than happy to hear you add your own bit of ridiculousness to it! :laugh3:

Have they lost their minds?
You're not making this too dramatic at all. This is exactly how I feel. Like I've lost an old friend. It's a bit like losing the best boyfriend in the world who's left you for that shiny plastic chick who lives in that giant mansion on the hill... It's like we don't know them anymore, because this change is completely different to what we would expect.

I don't have that much experience... I just dabble in creating homemade demos! :P Yes, I definitely agree, we need more humour around here! Everyone's been so tense lately! Much !

Ahah, I love the Para Para Parody so much, I couldn't help but record me singing it. But alas, Violet beat me on volunteering to sing and post it here, so I await her version with much anticipation! Good job, Hartroc! You inspired me more than Paradise could! :P

Have they lost their minds?
Thank you, Mark, for articulating everything that's been on my mind all day. As a long time fan of Coldplay, I really do feel sad that they've gone in this direction. I've mentioned in another thread that I feel that based on ETIAW and Paradise and all the things that Chris Martin says in their more recent interviews, the band are definitely approaching their music with money in mind. And sadly, that means they must cater to the taste of the general masses, which, in my opinion based on what's in the Top 40 these days, is shallow, superficial, and does not have lasting appeal. Coldplay need to stop trying so hard to please everyone and be true to themselves. For anyone saying they are being true to themselves, I give you this quote from Billboard magazine's recent interview with Chris:
-
SERIOUS OPINIONS
This bit in the Billboard magazine interview with Chris stood out to me: Something about what Chris says here just bugs me. First he says they're not doing this to sell millions, but then he utters that final line, which makes it seem like he's more focused on giving the audience 'value for money'... Which is all fine and well if most people in the world actually listen to good stuff. However, what we hear on the radio, the music that the general masses actually listen to, are mostly just superficial trite. So if he's focusing on pleasing the average listener, then I assume the band would definitely go in that Top 40's direction and adopt a more mainstream 'pop' sound. I don't know. Correct me if I'm wrong. I just feel like the band (or maybe it's just Chris?) are being more business-minded about this, and it's not really about being as artistically creative as they could actually be. I wish they would just make the music they actually like rather than go out of their way to cater to mass appeal.

SERIOUS OPINIONS
I don't like it. They sound like One Republic, tbh. I understand that bands need to evolve/change their sound as they progress, but with this song, Coldplay seem to be devolving. They used to be a band whose sound was imitated by other bands. They created their own sound. Remember this? :P [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6P-2GY-SgA]Everything Sounds Like Coldplay Now[/ame] Now they are the ones sounding like other bands. It's like they're working so hard to sound like everything else on the radio, to be mainstream, to sound like what most people listen to. :\

Coldplay covered by Briggins
Absolutely beautiful. Really moving.

Great / epic song :D!?
Awww the performance of this song at Glasto was so cute. Will said 'river to a rainbow' instead of 'river to a raindrop', and the two of them wanted to crack up so bad... Which is why I love Chris' reaction. He says he messed the song up when it was Will who got the lyrics wrong, and Will turned so red! :P I wonder why Will was even thinking of rainbows... Perhaps he had been staring at that LGBT rainbow flag all night? :P

Coldplay's Twitter
Well as long as LP5's not been mastered yet (and it hasn't yet, according to The Oracle), then there's still time to make even more songs for it, right? Chris tweeting is awesome news, btw!

Does it really matter if it was Plagiarised or Sampled?
Reilly, I totally agree with you. I think I'd have been less offended if the song wasn't sampled, because knowing that it was sampled yet the boys didn't really do anything with it to make it their own just makes it even more disappointing than it really is. I totally get why people would say the songwriting here's just lazy, because it really does seem it. I think the fact that ETIAW sounds more like 'Ritmo' than 'Rio' is purely a coincidence. Coldplay's been producing songs with more synth-y electronic sounds these days anyway, and that sound isn't exactly rare, is it? I guess they just "technologicalified" the original and it came out sounding very 90's europop-ish, like that Ritmo song is. To all the people here who say we have no right to criticise Coldplay and that if we do, we're not true fans, you really need to stop spewing that crap. Most of us fans criticise them because we expect more from them, because we know they're capable of coming out with some really amazing tunes. ETIAW is not good enough for Coldplay.

Jonny's guitar skills peaked in the Rush of Blood Era
Judging by these latest live performances, Jonny does indeed shine. He really does let it rip doesnt he, especially in Hurts Like Heaven! I don't know if it's because they're live and Jonny's always best live (like in that AROBTTH vid posted up earlier), but I do hope the studio versions have those amazing guitar solos too. EDIT: Ok, I just listened to the Rock am Ring version of Major Minus, and Jonny's guitar solo is some kind of awesome in that one.

Do you think 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' will be on LP5?
nothingtoseehere replied to busybeeburns's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)So does anyone know how far off the album is? Is it really actually DONE? Have they settled on the final track listing? Cuz if they haven't, then perhaps they're just testing the waters with this track, and they have time to leave it off the album if the reception's not so good. The fact that they haven't said anything about it being on LP5 or even announcing LP5's name and release date makes me wonder what they're up to. I personally hope it's not on the album.
