October 1: Rock in Rio festival Coldplay kicked-off October with a bang, as one of the headlining acts at Brazil’s Rock in Rio Festival. The band played a mix of new and old songs, against a background of the bright colours which are now characteristic of the Mylo Xyloto era. A highlight for many people in the crowd, was Chris spray-painting the word ‘RIO’ on the backdrop, during the show. ANNOUNCEMENTS/NEWS The biggest news of September was delivered by Phil. Mylo Xyloto (My-low Zy-le-toe) was finished! Coldplay.com posted the back of the CD containing the track listing and "icons" relating to each song. _________ The Sun reported that Rihanna would be featured on track Princess of China. Chris told them "The album is designed as a whole piece. It has boy and girl lead characters and top of our list for the girl part was Rihanna... but it took a while to pluck up the courage to ask her. "We did a show in Las Vegas and I met her and said, 'Do you think there's any chance?' I was very Hugh Grant-like and spluttering about it. She has such an a…

Despite LP5 not being released for another eight months, February of this year proved to be a busy and exciting time for Coldplay and Coldplayers alike. January saw the start of a year which would turn out to be a massive 12 months for Coldplay and their devoted fans the world over! That said, the band were still keeping things very much under wraps, leaving everyone in the dark as to the details of the untitled LP5. Following the revelation in December 2010 that the album would be a concept album about "two like-minded outsiders who meet in a very difficult environment and therefore have a journey together" more small teasers were released on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show on the 7th January when Chris Martin and Will Champion popped in for a chat. Asked about the album Chris stated that it was "about love, addiction, OCD,…
