Tash
Mylo Xyloto - Official Lyrics Posted on Coldplay.com Although earlier in the year we were treated to teaser pictures, gifs, etc. of lyrics prior to the release of ETIAW, early November brought us full disclosure of the lyrics. Not surprisingly though, debate ensued. "That's not what he's saying!..." Well, at least we have something in writing now! RB Concepts, which has a registered office in Offwell, teamed up with Coldplay after developing interactive LED light wristbands, which allow audiences to become part of a show. Entrepreneurs Clive Banks and Jason Regler approached the band to see if they would be interested in using the wristbands. Mr Banks told the Midweek Herald that the band not only became the company’s partners in the project but also bought part of the company. He said: “It is huge to be working with Coldplay.” The company approached the band, who said they would like to try the wristbands out during the launch of their latest album, Mylo Xyloto, in Madrid. The LED wristbands were handed out to members of the crowd at last week’s live event and lit up during the band’s first song as part of a world ‘first’ interactive experience. “It was a huge challenge to design, manufacture and deliver 17,000 wristbands at very short notice, but we are now working with the hottest act on the planet,” said Mr Banks. The new technology aims to increase audience participation at live events. He said: “The big thing is audience participation and this means bands can relate more to the audience. “It means there is a lot more audience participation, as opposed to it being static.” RB Concepts has high hopes for the technology in the future and Mr Banks says the wristbands could even be used at the Olympics. Coldplay is believed to be keen to use the wristbands at the forthcoming European Music Awards in Belfast. “The next move would be to have the wristbands at sporting events and night time events,” says Mr Banks. “We are also looking towards using it at the Olympics.” Coldplay will be unveiling something even more innovative when they begin their European tour next month. http://www.midweekherald.co.uk/news/coldplay_buys_part_of_east_devon_technology_business_1_1115222 Coldplay at MTV European Music Awards This year's MTV EMAs were held on 6 November in Belfast, Northern Island. Although the band was nominated for both Best Live Act and Best Rock awards, they were edged out by Katy Perry and Linkin Park, respectively. Although they didn't win Best Live Act, guess what they did... performed live! Maybe the EMAs will keep that in mind for next year's award. And based on their tweets, it seems they had a good time before the show too. Will isn't here yet but this is what he hits. This is at EMAs rehearsal. Brian may was rocking the whole place. Chris https://twitter.com/#!/coldplay/status/132959114514014209 When I say what he hits, I'm not sure if I mean the kit or the singer :-) Chris https://twitter.com/#!/coldplay/status/132963553589215232 Coldplay joins Google+ revolution Myspace, Facebook, Twitter... always on the cutting edge of social media, Coldplay joined Google+ on 7 November. If you're a Google+ sort of person, there's now an official Coldplay Page on there - http://cldp.ly/cpgplus. So now you can add Coldplay to one of your many 'circles'! But the big question remains... how do you get into their circle? (And what's so special about these lucky 10?) Interview with Mat Whitecross - Paradise Video On 10 November, Coldplay.com posted an interview with their good friend and repeat fixture on Coldplay music video shoots, Mat Whitecross. Want to know the inside story on the Paradise video with the elephants? Then read our exclusive Q&A with the director, Mat Whitecross, at http://cldp.ly/mwpara And in case you forgot the end result... Coldplay.com announced several shows scheduled for late May / early June (they described it as summer shows, but we're pretty sure that's still spring). Tickets were priced starting at £49.50; presale tickets sold out quick, and extra dates in London and Manchester were later announced due to overwhelming demand. Full list for the UK shows: MAY Tuesday 29 - Coventry Ricoh Arena JUNE Friday 1 - London Emirates Stadium Saturday 2 - London Emirates Stadium Monday 4 - London Emirates Stadium Thursday 7 - Sunderland Stadium of Light Saturday 9 - Manchester Etihad Stadium Sunday 10 - Manchester Etihad Stadium Coldplay on Saturday Night Live + Weekend Update sketch with Chris [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLPsL1gHViY]Coldplay SNL Promo - YouTube[/ame] After a 3-year hiatus, the band returned to SNL for a raucous performance of Paradise and Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. Okay okay, so they didn't perform 4 songs like they did back in 2008, but they did treat us with a few extras. During the Weekend Update segment, Chris made a surprise appearance as the backup singer Jan Pockabook, with recurring characters Garth and Kat. For those unfamiliar with these characters, they are regularly ill-prepared for their "performance" on Weekend Update, and make up their songs on the spot; all the while insisting they are not ad-libbing. For those outside the U.S. that are not able to watch the video (NBC is so mean), at least you'll have this lovely (?) picture of Chris. Video for those who can view it: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/Weekend-Update-Garth-and-Kat/1368129 And later on, the band appeared briefly in another sketch which played upon the emotions from many Adele songs. Everybody in the sketch couldn't stop "crying", and the band became victims of Adele as well... Don't Let It Break Your Heart guys, or you may actually need to use that AED behind you! Even after the show, the band still had a little something up their sleeve for the fans. They held a limited-time competition to win a "yet-unknown-something signed by the band" from the SNL set. What could it be? I'm sure every fan would treasure the mess of a vest that Chris wore during the Weekend Update sketch. New merchandise Just in time for the upcoming tour, the band rolls out new merchandise in their online store (you're welcome, Coldplay). T-shirts are nice, but you know we'd really like to buy the glowing xylobands. O2 presale sold out (80,000 tickets) We already knew that presale tickets would sell out quickly, but even this was a bit unexpected. nobody anticipated just how quick the general sale tickets would sell out. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUqBzBNS934&feature=player_embedded]O2 Priority - Coldplay - YouTube[/ame] Children In Need On 17 November, the band played at the Children in Need Rocks gig in Manchester. By all accounts, the band enjoyed every minute of the experience, including the interview before the gig. A message from Chris... Gary Barlow is my hero. We just played his Children In Need Rocks show in Manchester UK with Gaga, Elbow, Snow Patrol, JLS, Jamie Cullum, Hugh Laurie, Jessie J, Andrea Bocelli (who was fucking incredible) and Ed Sheeran. It was cool to be part of such an eclectic line up. Thank you to the amazing audience for having us and good luck to Children In Need. Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/donate/if you want to give some money. It's very worthwhile. http://wikicoldplay.com/17_November_2011:_Coldplay_et._al_@_Children_In_Need_concert,_MEN_Arena,_Manchester,_UK_%28Live_on_BBC1%29 Oslo Concert - with photoblog! After being rescheduled from the original date earlier in the month, Coldplay played in Oslo on 23 November. To the delight of F5 button fans, we were treated to a photoblog as well. Here's a sample... The view from the mic. Sentrum Scene has a capacity of around 500. It is, therefore, "intimate" http://wikicoldplay.com/4_November_2011:_Senkvelds_Coldplay-fest,_Folkteateret,_Oslo,_Norway Little Noise Sessions On 2 November, we learned that Coldplay would play Little Noise Sessions on 24 November. Tickets went on sale 2 days later, and sold out so quickly (of course)! The day of the concert, some familiar faces appeared on Coldplay's twitter. Didn't Chris once say to a fan/member here, "Crazy is good!"... These lovely loonies have been here since 7am queuing for tonight's Little Noise Sessions. Amazing! R42. Chris and Jonny on stage... "Hey Mr. Tambourine man..." err, woman? Chris finally "confronted" her before The Scientist. Really though, what was she thinking?
