Apparently they are DVD video files, however in order to play them you need other files for the DVD player to play them.

Eric my boy, download a program called powerdvd and you should be able to play them.

 

And oh, vob files usually have PERFECT quality

.vob files are the video files stored on DVD's, so they are DVD quality.

 

you can't really shrink them. there is a way to decode and then re-encode them as smaller .mpg or .avi files, but it's pretty damn complicated.
