Emo is supposed to stand For Emotional :) i think Emo is Emotional Punk/Rock music. :/

The Emo genre and subculture has become something that is very hard to define. Because of this it is difficult to trace its ancestry. Most people who claim to be “in the know” cite the D.C. hardcore/punk scene and more specifically the band Rites Of Spring as the founders of emo. However, history has shown that it is rash to attribute the formation of a musical genre to one band. By looking at the musical scenes of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s we can better determine the roots and influences that started and continue to affect the emo genre and subculture.

i got that from this site:

finally...this picture not only makes me sad inside, but is also, apparently, Emo http://www.fourfa.com/pics/stilllife.jpg

Emo is sad white boys whining about their depressing lives.

so isn´t it britpop? i read some articles about coldplay time ago and it said "they play sad/melancolic music as typical ´90 white boys bands" or something like that. :stunned:

emocore.. Emotion Hardcore music i'm guessing. i hate emo, i'm not even sure why i looked in this thread, maybe i have too much time to spare these last few days. :blank:

BritPop was really Oasis, and bands like that. If i listen to Oasis, i don't really think of a 90's White Boy Band.

it's a tricky topic, because there's lots of sub-genre's. i rarely think about it, mostly because if i talk about it to someone...either I, or the other person, becomes too anal about it all :bucktooth:

:) unless i'm reading that ^^^ wrong..i think your ' :/ ' is as if i was having a go at you. i wasn't.. i just meant it's a funny subject to try and discuss...because i could say one thing, and be correct, but then someone else could say another, and also be correct. i think it depends on what you consider emotional, or Hardcore or Punk to be :kid:

i wouldn't have been nasty or having a go.

oh, i get it. yes dicuss about music genres have this things i mean we have a different vision of the subject. :)
