February 13, 200521 yr people seemed to hear a small similarity between coldplay's 'the scientist' and sum 41's 'pieces'. here listen to this for the mashup.
February 13, 200521 yr Author ooops. looks like i broke the golden rule of do not re-post info. sorry y'all. i know this kind of thing is frustrating.
February 13, 200521 yr Is it the exact same chords? Or is the "sum 41 guitars" changed to fit "The Scientist"?
February 13, 200521 yr haha. I Guess they do sound similar in terms of chords, and some certain choice of notes. Just shows what you can do with pretty much the same notes and chords, in making a great song, and a fairly average, typical american Trash, song. Unlucky Sum41
February 14, 200521 yr I like it... and I realize that there are 2 other sum 42 songs that I like... :embarrased: does that make me a bad person.. :embarrased:
February 15, 200521 yr I like it too, not as good as the mix with Colplday and radiohead featuring the scientist tho. :wink3:
February 16, 200521 yr to be honest.. at the beginning it sounded good but torwards the verses it crashed..cause at first u concentrate on chris martins vocals and then sum 41's voice come in and take over so maybe just sum41's beat with an coldplay acapella...sorry but thats my opinion......nice try though
March 8, 200521 yr How do you access this file? I typed in my username and password, but it didn't accept it?
March 8, 200521 yr Hmm that is probably why I like the song then.. haha they should get sued though! :stunned:
March 8, 200521 yr The first 3 chords are the same as The Scientist, but the last one isn't. It still sounds very, very similiar. But I like the song :P
March 8, 200521 yr The first 3 chords are the same as The Scientist' date=' but the last one isn't. It still sounds very, very similiar. But I like the song :P[/quote'] Exactly. So, for example, lets say both songs are in the key of F. The Scientist goes Dm-Bb-F-C/F... if you listen to the bassline in the second verse it hangs on the F, doesnt change to C. Whereas in "Pieces" it changes to C/Em... not the same Also the interlude in Pieces is nowhere near reminiscient of anything in the Scientist, especially when it hangs on the Am. FYI, similar chord changes can be heard in so many other songs, just in different keys. The Dm-Bb-F-C chord progression is just in a different key than, say, Only One- Yellowcard, which has the same chord pattern, just a different tempo, key, and slight variations. Heck, Lee Ann Womacks "I hope you dance" uses the same chord pattern (in the chorus) as Pieces. If you wanna talk about close, listen to the Rolling Stone's "Anybody Seen My Baby" and KD Lang's "Constant Craving"... Actually I think the Stones got sued for that... Just saying that its physically impossible to be 100% original these days
March 12, 200521 yr How do you access this file? I typed in my username and password' date=' but it didn't accept it?[/quote'] as me and stix03 are painfully new members, we're both having the same problem. any help?
April 29, 200521 yr What a friggin joke. Unbelievable. But I guess that is what crappy bands with no talent do. Directly steal from other bands.
May 7, 200521 yr Question: Is that lousy group worthy for talking about it in a Coldplay fan page?????
