How often do people watch local GIGs?

Featured Replies

Do many people here watch local bands, in local pubs/clubs. Just wondering if theres is any talent thats worth raving about in your area. I seen a great band called "Moses" last week in a local pub, they were excellent. I told them they should cover Moses by coldplay but im guessin alot of the audience wouldnt have heard the coldplay song hehe.

i'll start seeing a couple of mine

Rolling dog and the skuds anyway

i always go to local gigs...there's so much shit around. i hate the thousands of new Skater bands who play the guitar in their bedrooms while taking a break from holding and carrying skate boards, or just wearing the clothes and chains...and then form a band..and get gigs and have a few friends at the front, jumping into one another and cheering..and they've asked to support another local band who are really trying to be the best they can. well done Rob W

my bitterness aside...I like the idea of this thread [if it isn't bombarded with spam] i like finding out about new bands!!

I love going to local gigs! :) I've seen a good few "local" bands play. They're not so local but just relatively known dublin bands playing the gig scene. My favourites are Juno Falls and Turn :)

i went to 2 last week. the guy was better than jimmy page at guitar. acoustic. so good.

and the 2nd gig had an awesome band, but you had to wait through 2 hours of the crappy other 3 opening bands.

oh the good bands were: Fine China & Joe Myers

yeah it should be interesting to hear about some of the bands people see.

Theres another great band i seen near me called "The Foundary" they played Clocks and also Everybody's changing by keane, a very good band, except they sumtimes use too much key board/piano when its not needed in other songs.

what about any bands playing their own music?...do you know any of those bands?

yeah i go and see a few, there aren't that many proper bands that come to york to be honest, so i have too.

Theres a band from my village, some lads who i grew up with, called The Hair, and Sony have just requested their demo. That same demo has also just won some websites award for new bands demo/ep of the year, and the previous winners of that included Franz Ferdinand. So gonna make it hopefully. Then i can say i've played football and gone to the pub with famous people!

They have a website with the demo avaliable for free download its http://www.the-hair.co.uk. The best track is left foot right foot, but sexual chocloate is worth a listen just cos it features peter kay going "this is ace this"!!!!

well, i play in them all the time, but they're turning into global gigs,
