So, my package arrived today, but UPS wants to charge me $38.43, and the value of the package is only $48.61. So, the nice UPS guy saw the charges and said that it was outrageous and I should try to fight it.

 

So I called UPS, after 5 minutes on hold I told one guy what the problem was. He said he'd transfer me to someone who could fix it. I get transferred and the other guy wouldn't budge. He kept saying that the brokerage fees are listed on their website (which are too hard to find on that crappy site) and that there was nothing I could do. I could contest it and my package would be sent back (that won't help, I already paid for the product), or I could pay it. The guy I bought the package from said he'd pay the charges too.

 

So now I don't have my camera cleaning stuff, there's a concert tonight, I'm pissed, my girlfriend is upset, and I can either wait till Monday to get my package, or pick it up later tonight (and miss part of the concert)

How much was the shipping originally supposed to be?

The guy I bought the kit from in the States paid for the shipping. I paid him $12 US for shipping.
