CHRIS WAS ASKED THIS IN AN INTERVIEW FOR MTV-----THEY ASKED HIM WHY THE CD WAS X&Y AND WHY THE COVER DIDNT MAKE SENSE

 

HE SAID THAT ITS A GOOD WAY TO LEAVE IT FOR INTERPRETATION----THAT THEY DONT WANT THEIR MUSIC TO BE LITERAL AND ONLY MEAN ONE SPECIFIC THING-------THEY WANT EVERY ONE TO INTERPRET IT THE WAY THEY FEEL LIKE IT AND TO GIVE IT THE BEST EXPLANATION AS THEY PLEASE----SIMILARLY THE COVER OF THE ALBUM IS NOT CLEAR ENOUGH---SO U MAKE OUT WHAT U THINK AND WHAT U WANT

it is my belief that chris wrote this whole album for his daughter. it may sound crazy but if u listen to it with that in mind alot of the songs make sense. especially if u listen to "speed of sound". its all about him trying to figure out if he was ready to have a child or not. very very "coded" song.

well, if you didn't know the guys, after listening to x&y (the song), you would expect that they're on drugs. (cough cough pink floyd cough)

ok, X&Y can mean a guy and a girl....X being the girl and Y being the guy, so X&Y, is guy and girl, and its talking about the guy and girl, "you and me are floating on a tidal wave, you and me are drifting into outer space"
