umm btw, anyone notice that the US is ranked 6th in the world in FIFA standings...above usual Football/Soccer crazy countries England, France, Spain, and Italy....

The U.s are ranked that high becayse they did well in 2002. England are 7th I think, Spain are underacheiving as usual, France are going through a tough time at the moment as are Italy....

I have to admit.. US footie has improved over the past few years... a lot of the MLS players go abroad to brush up and play.. and some Euros come over here to play as well... perhaps we are finally learning how to play the game.. effectively. :)

its not a US ranking its FIFA ranking which gives you points on how well you perform in competitions and matches ..

USA are above those countries because they rarely play anyone thats any good!

Ecuador is 33rd. They also essentially got raped on the field by Columbia, a "shitty team" that the US plays

Also, Ecuador, in the qualifiers has beaten Argentina AND Brazil and is currently in third place in the CONMEBOL qualifiers.

US and Mexico's 5th and 6th places are not deserved. BTW Colombia beat Mexico in the Gold Cup

See that kinda helps out where I'm comin from though, if Columbia isnt a shitty team and the US is playing them, that means it can't completely be a walk in the park for the US altogether. Again, this is all completely speculation until the actual world cup starts...and you'll note i mention above that I don't actually think that the US is better than the cornerstone soccer countries like Italy and France

i admit England are a little boring .. i don't understand why, we have so many great players so we should be a great side as well as entertaining so therefore i put it down to Sven who needs to be sacked because we will win nothing with him in charge!
