Why can't both be taught? They could be taught as separate theories on human existence commonly believed by most people i.e. "hey look, different people got different views on how humans came to be on this planet... two of the more popular ones are creationism and evolution. Creationism says that _____; then evolution ____ ????

religeon's only a social construct. Darwinian Evolution is a scientifically progressed hypotheses. Calling it a theory is wooly. 'Theory of evolution' was a term coined by the media to encompass a much broaded and more detailed set of hypotheses(sp).

 

I'm shocked and disturbed and the propensity of the US education system trying to take education back to the dark ages.

 

Let's just get it clear. Creationism and evolution are not linked as topics. One's a last grasp at keeping the fixed and non progressive traditionalist stance of religion and trying to piggy-back it as a pseudo-scientific fact. That's plain wrong. Evolution is a scientific peer-reviewed hypotheses which encompasses multi-scientific disciplines, from genetics, microbiology, physiology, zoology... just to name a few. Want to study evolution? get yourself a petri dish, some bacteria, and a few antibiotics...

 

It just scares some people that there's no 'reason' why were here apart from the biological fluke that was borne from the biological / chemical / physical processes of nature.

 

Get past the ideology and open your eyes to the real wonders of nature and you'll realise just what a fallacy religeon is!

Both Intelligent design and evolution should have equal representation in school classrooms so that students can make informed descisions. I find it hilarious that people think intelligent design being taught would be the religious right imposing their beliefs on others. What we have right now is the athiests imposing their beliefs in classrooms and teaching it as fact when it is a only a theory. Nothing is worthy of believing unless there are facts that support it and there is more evidence for intelligent design than there is for molecules to man evolution. Charles Darwin had no knowledge of genetics when he formulated his theory and we now know that molecules to man evolution is impossible as there is no mode for new genes to be added to the genome. In an effort to revive the theory of evolution evolutionists began teaching that mutations can add genes to the gene pull but scientist now know that mutations only alter or corrupt the genes and do not add new genes nescessary for the evolution of one species into a new species. Although people like to refer to evolution as science, in truth it is not. In science you start out with a hypothesis-a belief or model that you expect further testing to be consistent with. Then after continued testing and observation the hypothesis, if consistent with the expirements, becomes a theory and eventually an established fact. We have never observed one species changing into a new species or new genes being added to the gene pool which is absolutely nescessary for evolution to take place. Since these 2 basic foundations of evolution have never been observed and there is no mode by which these things can take place, evolution is just a belief at best and one with very little or no evidence to support it at that.

Some very bad inaccuracies. Genetics as a science postdated Darwin and was borne from the huxley/darwinian hypotheses of the origin of species by natural selection. In it he hypothesised the mode of transmission of hereditary material, later identified by the work of crick, watson, and franklin as DNA in 1953. Weve come a long way since then in genetics and genomic research. You've missed the point of evolution. Evolution is brough about by the natural process of point mutation, and genetic drift, not by the addition of new genes. The subtle changes in the proteins coded by these mutation may infer an advantage(or disadvantage) on the recipient. An advantage may result in the advantageous survival and propogation over others of the same species. Remember the timescales here. This is evolution as work. If eventually a breeding population.. seperated by for example distance inherits a number of genetic changessthey would not be able to interbreed, and a new species is formed.

science has never come close to proving evolution, their is alot of scientific evidence against it just like their is for it.

hahaha....To go from a single celled life form...which in itself is exremely complex... to a human or other complex creature, new genetic information is nescessary. Go read up on it. There are also creatures and organisms which could not have evolved becasue a intermediate would have self destructed or malfunctioned. Check out the bombardier beetle or even a woodpecker and the mechanism it uses to absorb the impact when it drills into wood. I could go on and on about such animals and organisms. Go talk to an ear doctor or an eye doctor.....both of these are so amazingly complex. It is pretty crazy that evolutionists think that these complex organsism came about by chance and time when humans can't even come close to replicating them. If evolution was true there would not be the large intelligence gap that we see between animal and human. If monkeys were building fires and villages and domesticating animals then evolution might have some weight. Emotions and instincts are other things that evolution has no way to explain.
