I'm starting to doubt there is a God...

Featured Replies

I don't know why...

Does anyone else feel the same?

God is a figment of your imagination, it's something that makes you feel better about death.

But Coldplay said He put a smile upon his face!!

Well, I never was really too afraid of death...

I don't even know why I believe in God--I bet I would of never chosen to believe in God if I wasn't brought up in a christian household...

Personally I believe in the Buddhist philosophy that there is no God, but to each his/her own.

There's a fine line between faith and imagination.

Me too, I was brought up Catholic.

That's what happens with most people. You should be grateful you weren't brought up in a Scientology household!! Imagine that!! :stunned:

^ lol dont we all

im glad i was brought up in an atheist houshold. i used to question it a few years ago cause we were taught all this stuff at school in bloody scripture lesson, but i dont believe now

How can you not believe in a God? I mean, do you really think everything around us happened by accident?

Oh dear sound the alarm, we have a non-believer :stunned: :stunned:

There are few concepts which are perfect. Time, space and existence are perfect. Our physical universe is imperfect. But I exist as one being. My body is a computative mechanism that could work alone, but I am inside. Something that is imperfect can't create something that is perfect, my soul's existence. That's why I believe in God.

^you are god :o :o :o

lol wtf

Well, the concept of living your whole life serving God, and then when you die you keep doing that for eternity, doesn't seem like much fun.

I believe in God but not in a religious way!!!....but i don't really like to talk about it because this could become a controversy...

thats pretty true!

God is there for everyone but people have freewill and people's decisions affect things in your own life ... God is not there to control living beings, he will watch ... why? i don't know ... but i'm sure there is an afterlife of some sort after this ... otherwise what is the point??!

I don't belive there is an actual god

I don't belive praying to someone will solve your problems

I do belive though that the universe was created by something

I can't see how we're all made of tiny dust particles and all evolved from nothingness

Thats my opinion anyway

True, true. There's so much that let's me know that God does exist. Even most scientists themselves come to the conclusion after ages of study, that something higher (i.e...God) is basically our creator. Who knows if you will find out in your lifetime how things that were prophetized in the bible will unfurl themselves. But no one has a right or priveledge to convince another being what to believe (which is why i loathe people who forcefully instill a belief or religion on another, like parents, in most cases). This you must find out inside of your being. I think that finding out whether you believe in God's existence or not is the basis of knowing who you are. Because, for me, believing in God makes me who i am.

eeesh...this is one of those general comments that people take on when they know nothing about God. :stunned: . The same people that i know who have said something along those lines are the same people that say "who believes in the bible? it was written by men in skirts/dresses?!" people :stunned:...that just happened to be the style of dress, just like the gay and retarded thing that boys wear now-a-days uhhh gross grily tight pants :stunned: ...anyway that was kinda off topic, but whatever.

Alyssa, no one can/should tell you what to believe , or not to believe in. Take your own path! :) This seems to be important, so look into it with careful research (in your own way). Make self assesments of yourself to find out what you do believe in!

May I just point out that there are more one religion(since this thread is pretty much about christian God), and that also not all religions are strictly theistic, such as budhisam, and that there are also polytheistics religions, and all kinds off wiccan and

native american philosophyies.

Just something to keep in mind when discussing religion in general. :)

Agreed *shakes hands*

I'm only speaking for my religion but it's true...other religions should be taken into consideration

I disagree. I have no problem with parents teaching their children about the religion they believe in if they truly believe it is what the truth is. If someone believes in heaven and hell and they simply allow their children to do whatever they want then are they not partially responsible for their souls? On the other hand, we're supposed to teach what we believe to be the truth out of love and not contempt. But love does not exclude pointing someone in the right directioin. "Love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things and hopes all things." Sometimes we bear each other's burden by pointing them in the right way. If you believe your child is wrong why would you not correct it? Especially if you truly believe their soul is on the line. If someone doesn't have a real faith in God like some do then they should not be teaching their children. But if someone has real faith and real love then they should be able to teach their children.

yeeesss...

Yes, parents can and should tell their children what their personal beliefs are. But when it comes to forcing their beliefs to their children, that's where things aren't right. And true, maybe the lives are the line, but once the child understands all that the religion is about and the consequences of their actions, they must choose their own path, and not be judged about the choice they make. Many parents fall into the critizing category because they are fanatical about their views at times.

Well I partially agree with you. But I think your idea of this mostly stems from the fact that there are a lot of parents who teach religion based on some kind of contempt I don't really understand. I agree with you there, but I personally know many people who will and should always teach their children truth according to their faith based on their love for their children.

Doesn't the bible teach that Jesus told us what to do? Who is going to tell our children what to do if we don't? Is Jesus going to come into their hearts and magically say, "this is what you need to do?" If you believe that then I will agree with you, but I don't believe in that.

I know it goes both ways, there are people who teach wrongly and there are people who teach in love. But I believe there are a lot more people who teach in faith and love than you think. No matter how old the child gets I will always try to steer my child in truth if I don't believe they're in truth. This doesn't mean I believe I know the complete truth. But I have a very strong belief in God and for that reason I will teach my children. I've studied religions and beliefs and I very strongly believe I am doing the right thing. If I'm ever unsure of myself then I will make sure I work hard to find my faith. I'll never just give up and not care what my beliefs or other's beliefs are.
