Your right Nigel, though I wish you were wrong, Love is a feeling that runs so deep through us that we depend on the love she gives you, when you lose that love or you tear it away it takes a piece of you with it, your whole world changes, and what you become next you can never say. Though Love does go so deep that it can be worth the pain to feel the great enjoyment and feeling in your heart, sharing that if only for a moment with someone special even knowing it is not to last, that feeling is so precious and so freeing that it is worth often the pain that is to follow. :)
