December 30, 200520 yr Right Coldplay's 1:36 (Especially the live version of it) has been categorically ripped off by Oasis in my opinion by the song "The Meaning Of Soul" off their new album.Anyone agree??? Thanks for listening. Bohs Man.
December 30, 200520 yr :o You're right! I've just listened to both of the songs. And they sound very similar. If it's true, then it's a good rip-off
December 30, 200520 yr Author I havent actually got the song I was listening to the song in my mates house and i thought thats a rip off of 1:36 so some other kind soul will have to upload it.
December 30, 200520 yr thanks a lot for the song! you're awesome! :D :D gotta listen to it later cause i wanna watch 'my family' now ... he he
December 30, 200520 yr Author I wouldnt say its as much of a rip off as ashlee simpson now but there is a strong resemblence especially if you compare it with the live version of 1:36 because it is a tone lower and it is then in the same key as the Oasis song.
December 30, 200520 yr Here's Rapidshare, but I'm not sure if rapid is available now :/ Try it: http://rapidshare.de/files/10127368/06_The_Meaning_Of_Soul.mp3.html If it's not, tell me, and I'll upload it somewhere else.
December 30, 200520 yr I listened to a clip of it on Amazon.com... I'll have to re-DL 1.36 to remember exactly how it went. *shoom*
December 30, 200520 yr Thanks a lot! rapidshare worked ... ... and you were right ... sounds kinda similar
December 31, 200520 yr *laughs* I noticed the similarity last summer when I got the CD. No, Oasis didn't copy or rip off or anything of the sort, at least not from a Coldplay B-side. What both bands did was build a song around two powerchords. The results when you do that are usually very similar, and very classic. People with a better knowlege of older music than me could probably back me up on this (or tell me I'm completly off), but I'm sure that there must be at least a dozen or so songs around that sound alot like both 1.36 and Meaning of Soul, especially from the 50s or 60s. Or as a blurb on the Oasis website puts it, "What we do hear is the deafening ninety second Meaning of Soul which spits fifties rock ‘n’ roll blades at passers by". If Oasis copied it off of anything it was probably their usual source material. Me, I really love both songs. They can coexist just fine.
December 31, 200520 yr Yay, another to my Oasis collection: 1 song. Although, holy crap, Liam's voice sucks. Damn, he's worse than James Blunt! Actually... no one can compare to James Blunt haha.
December 31, 200520 yr wowwwww yeah it does! it helps that I just so happened to be listening to 1.36 as I stumbled upon this thread. and I have listened to the live version earlier this evening.. sounds really really similar.
