So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
first 3 listens: :o! :stunned::shocked2::bigcry::dazzled: 4th-now: :uneasy::sleeping: It felt like getting back with your idiot ex. At first its all romantic then, the idiocy re-emerges. :worried2: I blame my being excited over new material for the "beer goggles" but let's not kid ourselves, the album kinda stinks. Besides, I dont think I cant forgive the awfulness that is "Up in Flames" :wreck: They must dump Eno. And go back to being Coldplay.

Your Review of MX (Thoughts, Opinions, Favorite Tracks, and Hated Tracks)
My review, ladies and gents :) Mylo Xyloto- Good solid intro, nothing more or less. Makes me think of Christmas.:smug: Hurts Like Heaven- Its a fantastic fast and a dancey 80's synth melody. A lot of people had problems with his vocals...but I kinda like them, they fit the song. I hope they make this song a single  One of my favorites of the album. Makes me wanna dance. Paradise- I've always liked this one, however, I'm having trouble hearing it after HLH. The placement of this one is just odd. Charlie Brown- Its definitely the most Coldplay song of the album. Its also the most "anthem"-y of the album.:guitarist: Its loud, uplifting, and embarrassingly pretty(the ending :dazzled:) Us Against the World- I quite like this one, reminds me of the old un-processed Coldplay we used to love. My only problem with the song is the intro, it makes no sense to the acoustic feeling of the song. MMIX- Just a pointless intro :snore: ETIAW- I've always loved this song.:blush:  Major Minus- Makes an excellent transition from ETIAW and its easily one of the best tracks in this album :) Jonny finally steps in full blast in this one, and steps away from all the shoegazing in the first songs and emulates The Edge. I love. Interestingly enough, its the only song off the album where I can see the "graffiti" inspiration  U.F.O- The melody sounds almost exactly like Major Minus, except this time, its just a simple acoustic guitar melody. Its airy and flows like a light breeze after Major Minus. Its very cute. :P Princess Of China- Let me start by saying I hate Rhianna:veryangry2:. Hate. Deep hate. Ok, now that I've gotten that out of my chest, I was....very, very surprised :o:o :o:o Coldplay actually managed to make beautiful yet radio friendly song with Rhianna. I'm not bothered one bit by the synths, her voice, the dance-y hip hop beat or how painfully different it is from everything Coldplay has ever done. I fell in love with this song. :stunned::surprised: Up in Flames- UGH:sick2::sick2: Awful.:furious: THE worst Coldplay song ever. Honestly, what on earth were they on when they decided that this song was any good? :wreck: :wreck: :wreck: A Hopeful Transmission- Ah! Sassy intro. I like! DLIBYH- ...............so.so.so. pretty! Makes me wanna run around downtown Tokyo while there's fireworks in the sky. Makes me feel in love. :p A small observation: The U2 influence is very obvious here, this song almost sounds like " City of Blinding Lights". Up with the Birds- The first 1:32 minutes of the song are horrible....then, at 2:05 :stunned: :o:o WOW. I even said it out loud. Its so ridiculously pretty. The levels of adorable are on par to hugging a Polar Bear. Perfect ending. Final thoughts? its certainly a good solid album yet its nowhere near perfect. There's no way I can ignore the pitiful awfulness that is Up in Flames. Without that song and if the songs had more substantial lyrics, Coldplay would have perhaps, their best record to date. However, I did enjoy the layering, the loudness of certain songs but above all, how painfully cute/adorable/pretty this album is. In tough times, Coldplay lifts our spirits with pretty songs than makes us smile.

Biggest Disappointment and Surprise of Mylo Xyloto
Disappointment: Up in Flames is horrible, I would go as far as saying its the worst song Coldplay has ever done. The song order is really strange and the lyrics are all ridiculous. We already knew Chris isnt an amazing lyricist, but dang, most of the words have been reduced to "woo" "Oh" "Ah" and horrible metaphors. Surprise: POC. I quite loved it. Its strange because a) I hate Rhianna b) its very 80's + hip hop. Somehow, they manage to trim down her Rhianna-isms and turned it into an enjoyable track. Is it too pop friendly? Yes, but since when is that such a crime! and I love love love DLIBYH, what a little surprise! :)

Will Mylo Xyloto leak? ** EFFECTIVE 16-10 LINKS NOT PERMITTED ** (PART II)

Lhuna or Lost+?
Lhuna. Kylie's voice fits so well with Chris'. I wont lie, when I heard they had a duet, I was afraid. Now, I love it. I have some hope that the same will happen with Rhianna, however, its becoming a challenge since I REALLY REALLY despise her  :(

An important public service announcement. Please read.
 thanks! Then it be scarier ....!!!

Why Coldplay needed to go 'Mainstream'
:clap: Brilliant post! I am a fan of Radiohead above Coldplay, yeah, everyone throw stones at me. Radiohead will never cater to what the audiences want, but that's not the reason why I love them. Otherwise that just makes them pretentious high brow wannabes. Radiohead doesn't produce music hoping now one will like it. All im saying is, has it ever ocurred to you that maybe Coldplay likes what they are doing and also think they expanding their musical horizons and developing their sound? Millions of other people just happen to agree. Taste is a matter of opinion.:)

Why Coldplay needed to go 'Mainstream'
I can see where you are coming from. One of my best friends and fellow Coldplay fan has simply quit and stated a string of similar sentences regarding their lack of heart in music lately. She feels like they have indeed, sold out. However, the way I see it is...they are famous now, so might as well cater to the audiences. Its a smart decision, business wise, popularity wise. Although, truth be told, whether they stay true to their roots or change for the masses, people wil always be disappointed ie: Radiohead's new album. :(

Why Coldplay needed to go 'Mainstream'
Truth be told, Coldplay hasnt changed all that much, if anything they've grown. They use more color, more instruments and more vocals. Deep inside Coldplay is still Coldplay. Coldplay has never had any profound lyrics to begin with and the music has never been particularly groundbreaking anyway. Quite honestly, "Yellow" is fairly "bland" both lyrically and musically, even slightly ridiculous....now why do we love it? Because its simple. Because its honest. Because its adorable. Because its a good song. Just that. Because its from the heart. I believe that if they would have released "Paradise" during "Parachutes" or "AROBTH" time, it would have been the same song, just different instruments(basic normal instruments:guitar, piano, drums, bass). Im in no way being condescending but rather explaining that i've always been perfectly content with this fact. My love for Coldplay has never stemmed from them being musically ground-breaking or wildly imaginative...its still alive because they keep on making music i enjoy, and can listen to over and over...years after years.:sunny:

Why Coldplay needed to go 'Mainstream'
Coldplay has always been mainstream. Nothing wrong with that. Underground, "Indie" if you may might have more quality but that only because most of these bands dare to be different and explore new grounds that the average listener wont digest so readily. However, when it starts becoming the band's motto to be unpopular and simply respected, then its just forced quality. Coldplay just happens to make music that's both catchy and cool. There's nothing wrong with being popular really. The Beatles made music that was both ridiculously popular and incredibly fantastic.

THINGS EVOLVE!!!
I do agree with this with most of their songs, their sound has matured but mostly EVOLVED. Although I like Paradise, its too simple of a song and a bit of a regression.
