schmarotzer
Hey fellas, I had an idea today. Why don't we make a coldplay tab book? It's simple: You post your favorite coldplay tab (Only correct tabs, please ;) ), and other person post a different tab, so, in a few days we'll have all coldplay tabs here, and won't have to search all over the net for correct tabs. Well, I'll begin by posting clocks, my fav to song to play on the guitar (Yeah, it sounds good on the guitar too! 8) ) Here's the tab: -- Coldplay - Clocks -- This is the main riff: e-0-----0-----0------------------------------------------ B---0-----0-----0---3-----3-----3-----3-----3-----3--- G-----1-----1---------4-----4-----4-----2-----2-----2- D-----------------------4-----4-----------0-----0------- A--------------------------------------------------------- E--------------------------------------------------------- cont.: e--------------------| B-2-----2-----2-----| G---2-----2-----2---| D-----0-----0-------| A--------------------| E--------------------| E Bm D Lights go out and I can't be saved, tides that I Fm tried to swim against E Bm D F#m Brought me down upon my knees, oh I beg I beg and plead singing E Bm D F#m Come out of things unsaid, shoot an apple off my head and a E Bm D F#m Trouble that can't be named, tigers waiting to be tamed singing (here, you can play the riff or these chords:) E Bm D F#m yoooooooooooou aaree 2x Chords remain the same through the song: Confusion never stops, closing walls and ticking clocks (gonna) Come back and take you home, I could not stop, that you now know (singing) Come out upon my seas, curse missed opportunities (am I) A part of the cure, or am I part of the disease (singing) You are [x6] And nothing else compares Oh nothing else compares And nothing else compares Home, home, where I wanted to go [x4] ------------------------------------ Here it is. Now, you guys post your tabs. :)

If I can be bothered later I'll transfer the notes from my piano to my guitar.

Bewildebeast
Okay. <pre> Song: You Only Live Twice (live) Artist: Coldplay From the 'Don't Panic' single Tabbed by Matt Eason (m.eason (at) virgin.net) This tab is divided into two sections, acoustic rhythm and electric lead. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | RHYTHM GUITAR (ACOUSTIC) | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 'Cause I'm rubbish at chord theory, I have no idea what these variations on the B chord are called, so I'll number them with numerals. First verse: After the first repeat: Em, F#m, Em, F#m After the second repeat: Em, F#m, Em, B Second verse: Em, F#m, Em, F#m Chorus ~~~~~~ You need to play this first bit insanely fast. It's not too hard. I've only written each chord down once, but you'll need to play each bar twice. Notes that are only added in the second bar of each chord are in (parenthesis). If you don't understand that (and I don't blame you ;)) then email me at m.easonvirgin.net You'll also need a wah to play it properly. |------------|------------|------------|------------| |--12--------|--11--------|--10--------|--11--------| |--9---------|--9---------|--9---------|--9---------| |------------|------------|------------|------------| |------------|------------|------------|------------| |------------|------------|------------|------------| |------------|------------|-(10)-------| |--12--------|--11-(12)---|--10--------| |--9---------|--9---------|--9---------| |------------|------------|------------| |------------|------------|------------| |------------|------------|------------| Then the easy bit (ignore the above instructions for this): |-14-14-14-14-|-12-12-12-12|-11-11-11-11|-9--9--9--9-| |-------------|------------|------------|------------| |-------------|------------|------------|------------| |-------------|------------|------------|------------| |-------------|------------|------------|------------| |-------------|------------|------------|------------| Outro ~~~~~ Not too sure about this: B5, G5, B5 G5 Then this (similar to chorus): |-------------| |-12-------8--| |-9--------9--| |-------------| |-------------| |-------------| ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | PLAYING ORDER | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pre-intro Intro Verse Chorus Intro Verse Chorus Intro Pre-intro Outro </pre> http://freespace.virgin.net/m.eason/You%20Only%20Live%20Twice.htm And yes, buy the books. Bewildebeast
And of course, the forum's decided to screw up the line spacing  Go to http://freespace.virgin.net/m.eason/You%20Only%20Live%20Twice.htm for a better version.
schmarotzer
No offence dude but that sounds reealy wrong, the first notes are alright but not really spot on and the last bit is just wrong altogether. If I can be bothered later I'll transfer the notes from my piano to my guitar. Weird, I played it on my acoustic and it sounded right. Anyways, i tabbed it from the piano notes this time, so see if the riff sounds right now: e|11--------11------11-----9--------9--------9------9-------- B|---11-------11------11-----11-------11-------11----11---- G|------12------12--------------10-------10-------------10--- e|-9--------9-------8---------8-------8-----11-------11------ B|---11-------11-------9--------9-------9------11-------11--- G|------10----------------10------10--------------12------12- e|--11-------9----------9--------9----9--------9-------9----- B|-----11-------11--------11-------11----11------11------11-- G|------------------10-------10-------------10------10------- e|--8---------8--------8---------------------------------------- B|-----9---------9--------9------------------------------------- G|-------10--------10------------------------------------------
schmarotzer
BUY THE BOOKS DAMMIT!!! http://www.coldplayshop.com I'd really like to buy the book, but they don't sell tab books here in Brazil. :x And it would cost aloooooot of money to import it, cause $1 = R$3 ! (R$ = brazilian money) So i guess i will never be able to buy their tab book. :x :(
Bewildebeast
Dunno if it's a lot, but the tab book is R$74.08 (according to xe.com), and shipping's free from http://www.coldplayshop.com
schmarotzer
Thanks for the info, Bewildebeast. :) Free shipping... Wow! I didn't knew that. But R$ 74,08 is still a lil expensive. For example, Travis More Than Us official DVD costs R$ 42,00. The Lord OF The Rings - Fellowship Of The Ring Book costs R$70,00. But, since i really want this tab book, i guess i'll buy it anyway. Which tab book you guys think is the best? Parachutes or AROBTTH?
Bewildebeast
No problem :) As to which one's the best, that depends on which album you prefer. Personally I enjoy playing stuff from Parachutes, as in general it's more guitar-based, but they're both fun. There are a few mistakes I've noticed in the ROBTTH one which I've noticed - I'd be happy to point them out if you want.
schmarotzer
Yeah, i think i'll buy the parachutes one. So many amazing songs... Yellow, Trouble, Everything's not lost, Don't panic, Shiver... Ok, the whole album is fantastic! Anyways, how many pages does each book have? Just curious... Oh, By the way, please point the AROBTTH mistakes, cause i might import it too if i like the parachutes one.
Bewildebeast
Okay, let's see... - Politik - the chord box for Db6 is wrong. It says the chord starts at fret 6, but it really starts at fret 4. - GPASUYF - the tuning is a bit confusing. It says 4th string is tuned to E#, but of course there isn't really an E#, this is just an F. - Daylight - I'm pretty sure this is all played on a 12-string (at least it is live), not just in the chorus as is stated in the book. - Warning Sign - The tuning's correct, but you also need to put a capo on first fret for gtrs. 1+2. Those are just the ones I noticed, there may be more. Oh yeah, the ROBTTH book is 80 pages and the Parachutes one is 62 pages.

Bewildebeast
ahh, tab is simple :P This is a little guide I wrote for someone on the official board a while back: Each line represents a string. The top line is high E (1st string; the thinnest one) and the bottom is low E (6th string; thickest one), so: e----- B----- G----- D----- A----- E----- The numbers on each string represent what fret to play at, so fifth fret on the D string would be: e----- B----- G----- D--5- A----- E----- A '/' (slash) means a slide (either up or down the string). This means playing the first note and then sliding straight up to the next, usually without picking the second note, so this: e---------- B---------- G---------- D--5/7---- A---------- E---------- means you have to play the D string at the fifth fret, and then slide your finger up to the seventh fret. You can slide more than one note at a time: e---------- B---------- G---------- D--5/7---- A---------- E--3/5---- This means pick E at the third fret *and* the D at the fifth fret, at the same time (pretty easy with fingerpicking) and then slide them both up the neck.
