January 15, 200620 yr This site can be reached via the URL http://www.coldplaying.com Coldplaying.com is the first independent site I found of interest. The homepage is quite large, which at first I found quite off-putting as it throws you straight in to the site, without much of a welcome. However I soon warmed to the site. You are greeted by a comical picture of Chris Martin (the band's lead singer) advertising the site via a sign in his mouth!!! The site is extremely easy to navigate. There is an extensive list of pages down the left hand side of the homepage. I found the website managed to find an excellent balance between being informative and was much more light-hearted and therefore easier to read than the official site. There is a great deal of information about the band and their background and also current news, which has been kept well up-to-date. The site also offers a light-hearted look at the band in the 'Coldplay scribbles' and 'A day in the life of...' sections. There is an extensive photo gallery and also competitions to win band related prizes. As this was the first independent site I visited I had slight reservations over the authority and accuracy of the information on there, however it appeared to be extremely well researched and very detailed. The site is very dark, and perhaps could be made even more attractive by brighter colours, however, the dark image is probably more fitting with the bands music! The article's are well written, managing to be both informative and interesting. There is also the interesting offer of users of the website getting an e-mail address @coldplaying.com. Something which I think would be of considerable interest for fans of the band (and something which I took advantage of)! There were several links on the site, including one to the official site, which all worked well. Overall, I found this to be an excellent website. It is extremely informative and I found it to be more interesting to read than the official site, although simply because of the fact it is a fansite it lacks some of the credibility which the official site carries. Despite this fact, Coldplaying.com was my favourite site. Again, I found this site via a search engine. This time I used http://www.google.co.uk and entered the keyphrase 'Coldplay'.
