Jan. 25 Seattle Show Review(s)

Did they let Cameras in like the first part of the Tour???

Nettie' date=' siggy pic = animated pic in my signature?[/quote']

Yes dearest...

The pic on your left is your avatar. :)

Thank you Nettie :) ;)

I was there too...some comments:

-On Trouble they left out the piano riff...but I still liked it the best out of all the songs they played. Towards the end (Will was on the piano), Chris leaned over the piano and started playing a duet with him. It sounded really great!

-I thought this was supposed to be Talk the Tour....but I guess it's still called Twisted Logic. Hmm.

-I definitely enjoyed this one much more than the White River Amphitheater show...the acoustics in the Key Arena are pretty darn good and the crowd energy was great.

-Fiona Apple was a bit different (music-wise), but still good. She was acting really weird though. She kept laughing nervously, stuttering, and trailing her sentences off...me and my friend came to the conclusion that either she was really really nervous, or she was somehow intoxicated...

-Kinda had wished they mixed up the setlist a bit, but I liked it still. How You See The World was a nice surprise!

-Fix You was fantastic! The lights were shining straight on Chris, so the rest of the arena was really dark...and everyone pulled out their cell phones and the place was just glowing with them...it was awesome!

Question: How much were the sweat shirts?

no seriously

i want to buy something before i go home from the Oakland concert.

that way ill know if i should stick to a tshirt

but i really want a sweatshirt

Which version of How You See the World was it?

It was predictable...and 1 song shorter than last summer. From the White River show, they replaced A Rush Of Blood, Low, Don't Panic, and Swallowed In The Sea with X&Y, How You See The World, half of Trouble, and The Hardest Part. They could have done all of Trouble AND Don't Panic during their acoustic section last night. I think we all got spoiled at White River to be honest! White River was my first concert period, so I don't know if this show could have topped that night but it was close and still lots of fun. It just seemed like it was over too quickly.

I still say Politik is their best song live...the energy they put into the ending was insane. I loved "They put a Starbuck's on the corner of every fucking place". I was probably the ONLY person in my area singing along to How You See The World...just shows how many casual fans I was surrounded by, but I showed I was a true fan during that song!

I also liked when Chris said "A great American...George W., I mean Johnny Cash!" It was priceless, espeically in Seattle where we lean left in politics. He mentioned the Seahawks and Superbowl a lot, which was awesome. I really liked the variation in his tone of voice during Fix You. And "Do you know where I can get a decent cup of coffee around here?", haha...only EVERYWHERE!

I got WAYYYYYY better pictures than the summer since I was using a film camera last time and a digital camera this time. And I have VIDEOS to watch forever and relive the night!!

In a way we should be glad Seattle was the start of the tour because they had a month's worth of energy built up from Christmas break, and Chris's vocals were in the best condition they're going to be in all tour. On the down side, we'll miss out on any particular changes they decide to make during the tour.

It's weird that my tickets were $7 more for Key Arena than White River. But we also had to sit through Black Mountain, so that's probably why they were $7 less in the summer.

The "This is where we pay homage to a great American...George W., I mean Johnny Cash!" joke cracked me up too. Crowd seemed to like that little (not so subtle) jab!

I really was so thrilled to hear HYSTW V.2!!! The friends I went with couldn't understand why I was so excited

As I've posted a little blurb elsewhere what I thought of the concert, I wont repeat myself. For certain, it was nothing less than spectacular!!

I agree Jason that Chris' vocals were tip top and crystal clear.

OasisDouglas, I listened to your sample clip of GPASUYF. Wow. Great quality!! I can't wait to hear more. Thank you soooo much!!!

i found that the show at white river was better but obviously that's just my opinion and the "shock" value of seeing coldplay for the first time was hard to beat. where were you sitting because where i was the crowd was kinda dead..

from what i've heard fiona apple is always like that and kinda spastic and weird and she probably hasnt opened in a place that big.

mug: 15

patch: 5

button: 3

poster: 10

shirts: 35

tour book: 20

sweatshirt and track jacket: 65 and 70 (not sure which was 65 and which was 70)

i personally got a shirt because 70 is way too much in my opinion for a sweatshirt

edit: after seeing other peoples pictures i've decided that for the key arena the stands were definately better than the floor because you have a much better view, i'm nearly six feet tall and i had trouble keeping my eyes on chris and it looks like other people had much better views from the 100 and 200 level. what a shame especially since the tickets are that much more expensive

I had sat in 214, row 6 for the Foo Fighters/Weezer show in October...and the view was amazing, so I didn't even bother with floor seats or 100 level where I knew I'd have to stand with people in my way. I got 214, row 3 for the Seattle show and only had 4 people sitting in front of me. It gave me great views for full stage or zoomed pictures and videos.

The only tough part is trying to keep my camera steady to record while trying to look up and enjoy the concert....because at times I was watching the show through the viewfinder and didn't pay attention to the actual band with my own eyes. But since the show was pretty much the same as White River, I was able to predict when to take the best pictures and when to start recording.

I just need to figure out how to extract the audio from the videos so I can have mp3s from the show.

I was in Section 113...I got the $70 track jacket, but look at it this way:

I could have spent $50 for some random sweatshirt I won't wear very much

orrr

$70 for a Coldplay jacket that I know for a fact I will wear all the time

:)

true twistedlogic but i try and find the sweatshirts when theyre on sale so around $35 so then the track jacket becomes twice as expensive. eh.. i definately would enjoy owning the jacket but it's not worth it to me

Great Gig!

For anyone that cares, I was able to audio record the entire gig and it came out fairly well. For an audience recording I would consider it above average.

Details and sound sample here:

(Full gig should be available and free to download in the next 3-5 days)

That is awesome! My wife and I were on the floor and at the end of the night we were saying how cool it would be to have a recording of the show. The sample you put up sounds great. Keep us posted!

BTW, Dreads, I was in the aisle on the left and was able to grab his shoulder as he ran by. My wife jokingly wanted to smell my hand afterwards. hehehe!!!

I've watched my videos at least 10 times apiece now....I've got 25 videos of either clips or entire songs...I should have a few links on my thread by tomorrow.

Seriously, you guys are my heroes! This was only my second Coldplay concert ever and I never saw my first(White River) surface. I'm happy that I'm getting at least one of them. Thanks for the uploads...

By the way, what did you think of the crowd? Do you think Key Arena was a better crowd than White River?

My favorite was White River but like someone said before, it could have just been from the shock of seeing them for the first time ever.

I think the White River show was better. Like you, White River was my first Coldplay show ever (my first concert ever as well), so both firsts made it stand out so much. I just think there's way more energy in an outdoor venue when people feel less constricted to move around and sing. They sound better outdoors as well...and it helped that White River's audio was top notch. I've heard they might have to close down White River though, my friend said they've been having a lot of people get busted for alcohol and drugs by the police lately.

I can see why White River would be shut down! I was surrounded by people smoking the happy grass and I swear, I got a contact high just from standing downwind from that. I even saw quite a few people get arrested too.

You're right about White River's sound being better, I noticed that also. I wonder where they'd play whenever they come back for an outdoor show though. The Gorge is beautiful but a pain in the ass to get to.
