Feb. 22 Detroit Show

Anyone that has been to see Coldplay at the Palace could definitely be of help on this one...

I was just curious as to if the Palace allows cameras (camcorders, digital, etc.) to the shows. I'm so excited for the show and I really want to take pictures, except I don't want to get out there to find out I can't use it and possibly get it taken away.

You could use a camera the last time they played DTE Music Theater. Those 2 venues are owned by the same company, so I don't see why not. Also, if you want more information, just call the Palace directly.

OH. MY. GAWD!!!!!

Last night's show was THEE best concert I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!! The guys were absolutely fantastic and they perform SO WELL on stage! I got so many pictures and a few videos on the digital camera, but I haven't looked at them yet, because *OH JOY* - I'm sick and I can't hear out of my left ear and had to leave super early from my boyfriend's this morning so my mom could take me to the dr's. GAH!

But I got some Coldplay Confetti!! Little gold strips of confetti that I grabbed up before I left - JOY!

Ha, and I cried when they played "God Put A Smile On Your Face" :)

What was the setlist?

if you saw the band on the first leg of the tour, the show is very different on this leg. Most of the lighting and video displays have changed, with amazing new ones for Fix You and Clocks. How You See The World was AMAZING live, I hope it is the single that they bring out the DVD too. Chris almost got mugged running back to the stage at full speed after he was at the back for In My Place. White Shadows was probably the best received song, everyone around me was loving it. Chris said he is finally getting his hair cut, but a new hairdresser, and so he's nervous it might be the final days of coldplay, but then he played "Dont Panic". They cut Trouble short which was a shame, and in fact the entire set seemed to be a little quick. And usually Chris changes a line in Politik, but he didnt this time. Also he got lines mixed up quite often in Swallowed In The Sea and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face. Speed Of Sound was really improved performance compared to the way they used to do it too. It was nice to see Guy with some Moracca's, and also Jonny playing in the center of the stage with chris on the right and guy on the left for about three songs. Can I ramble any longer? Fionna Apple was pretty good, but came on the stage right after the doors opened and her set went fairly quickly. If anyone has her setlist I would appreciate it. Great show, well worth the 5 hour drive each way.

PS. They STILL haven't played twisted logic!

Here's the link to my pictures. they are out of order again, but just read the captions to be in the know.

be forewarned my camera sucked. so the pics pale in comparision to last summer concert. but I don't care this time the stage was so much further back and higher up. I just enjoyed myself dancing more and singing. Showing how much I loved the music. The crowd around me sucked so bad. anyways. I will update later, now I need to get back in the swing of classes.

Gosh I re-read that I sound so mean and not excited.

I HAD AN UNBELIEVEABLE TIME! IT was kind of a whirlwind of emotions. But I worked it out dancing. IT was all about feeling that beautiful music. I felt the energy and I loved it. :D :D :D :D :D :D < thats me! but at the same time that damn post concert depression is setting in.

more later.

THE SHOW WAS AMAZING!!!

What else can I say? What a fantastic show. They definitely made some changes from the set in the first leg of the tour (over the summer). Loved how Chris ran back to the back of the arena during "In My Place," and the stuff about his hair was so funny.

He was like, "I know you're probably all wondering why Coldplay has their hair like the Bee-Gees, but when you go on tour for a while, you get scared of getting your hair cut because you can't trust anyone to do it. Well, tomorrow I'm getting my hair cut in Michigan. The message of this next song is one that I will think of tomorrow." And then he went right in to "Don't Panic."

Also, he included some stuff about Johnny Cash before they played "Til Kingdom Come" into "Ring of Fire." He was like "sometimes, you wish that certain things would fit together. So this next song is for Johnny Cash, Detroit's greatest musician."  Even though, obviously, Johnny Cash is not from Michigan.

I loved it when Jonny took center stage during "How You See the World," and guy was on stage left and Chris was on stage right. Not too many blatant errors; they restarted "Don't Panic" because Chris didn't come in with the vocals immediately. :) But who cares? It was amazing. Everybody around me was really into it.

Quick side note: my friend and I got VIP passes for the aftershow, so we ended up waiting an hour and a half after the show in the "friends and family of coldplay" room in the back for the band, and the band never showed!!! :( :( Has this happened to anyone else? But oh well, the show was still awesome. I can't wait for my next show!!!

Well, I have never seen a poor Coldplay show. This marks my fourth (I may be a rookie to others). High energy. Good humor, and Chris asking the crowd several times if they were "doing alright." Chris also joked about his hair getting really long and how on the road one is very hesitant to try a new hair stylist, but he was going to go to one the next afternoon in Birmingham, a posh suburb of Detroit. Then the band launched into "Don't Panic" as sort of a warning not to worry about his hair....very humorous. Setlist goes as follows:

Square One

Politik

Yellow

Speed of Sound

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face

X&Y

How You See The World (no one knew it)

Don't Panic

White Shadows

The Scientist

'Til Kingdom Come

Ring of Fire

Trouble

Clocks

Encore

Swallowed in the Sea

In My Place

Fix You

Not too much of a varience from the show in "Detroit" back in August. Still, in my opinion, much better. Chris complimented the crowd for coming out in droves on a Wednesday night. The Palace was filled!

That was one hell of a show last night! My only complaint was the length of the show. I wish they would play longer, but other than that, it was incredible.

My wish came true and they played Swallowed in the Sea for the encore. Thank god!! I have pictures too and will post once I get them out of my camera. I actually live in Birmingham (where Chris is getting his hair cut today,) but I don't think I'll be hanging outside the Townsend Hotel. That's where they're staying if anyone wants to get a picture or autograph.

Michigan showed up strong last night!! Hell yeah!

Chris said he is finally getting his hair cut, but a new hairdresser, and so he's nervous it might be the final days of coldplay, but then he played "Dont Panic".

wooot! amazing news! :o

thanks for all those reviews! :)

He definitely is in desperate need for a haircut, hopefully it will be before my concert if im lucky  . Also im glad to hear they're moving around on stage, i like that because Im on the right and i was a little dissapointed I wouldn't be on Jonny's side but if he goes to the center ill get a better view!
