Hey guys...

One of my favorite performances is "Talk" during the tour...does anyone know why they have that random clip of the BEARS on the screen? It cracks me up every time I see it... well also because one of my good friends that has gone to every Coldplay show with me, we have some silly in joke about bears (???!), but does anyone know what the purpose of COLDPLAY-TALK & BEARS is al about? :\

THANKS! LOL

Well I think looking at it from a totally literal point, the bear is trapped in its little enclosure and doesn't know where to go, which is compounded by the fact that it's surrounded by that vingette effect.

I dunno how it relates to the song, though.

argh. I saw coldplay 26/6 (this monday) and I rrreally rreally want to go again. They're only playing one more gig here.. tonight.. which I don't have a ticket for. I know I got to see it and thats good but... it doesnt change the fact that I'd do anything to see them again. well anyway... they were amazing.

I am pretty sure (well its what Ive thought since I first saw it at the Euro mtv awards) that it has something to do with animal rights. Which is a brilliant cause. The way the camera on the bear looks almost like someone looking through a gun. Well thats how I perceived it. I think it makes the music become felt in a completely different way when they use that footage, and it goes with the clip perfectly, makes it hit home.

When I first saw the bear footage at the concert, I was afraid they were going to show it being shot or abused. (to raise awareness for animal rights) Paul McCartney's 1990 tour showed some animal abuse footage to go along with his new album, which also focused on animal rights. All I could think was "oh no, it's going to be just like that concert again!"

P.S. I am an animal lover and think that animal rights is a wonderful cause, I just don't enjoy seeing footage of animals being hurt. I read something terrible in the news about a month ago, it said that in China there had been an outbreak of rabies I think it was, so these groups of Chinese authorities went around clubbing dogs to death, sometimes taking them from their owners as they were being walked. That's horrible. :(

Honestly, there may be no reason at all for the bear. They were probably sitting around one day, and decided, "Hey, why don't we put a bear on the screen during Talk so that all our fans will try to figure out what it means!"

Or something to that effect.

i think Talk played live is terrible, it sounds weak.

The album version is great, just the live version sounds weak.

You've got to be kidding!!! It's one of the best songs live, and it's not the best on the album. It gets everyone going like nuts, fucking brilliance.

And the bear definately has a meaning, animal rights for sure.
