Death penalty

Featured Replies

Simple question:

Do you think it is right to kill a person for punishment or not?

I don't know how many times we've discussed this at school....

And I can say that I'm against it...

Because if you punish somebody with death I think it is not a real punishment...if the person is dead...then he/she is just dead! There are no feelings anymore....and so there are no feelings of suffering and punishment anymore....

I think you punish more the family by that and not the peron himself/herself....

If you punish somebody by imprisoning him/her I think then they really have to suffer....and isn't this the aim of a punishment? To let the person feel what he/she has done wrong....and to learn from it!

u r mostly right Julia!

but when u r watching tv, they always say that a rapist or a muderer does it one more time...although he was in jail before...

May be governments could fine a way between death and jail; stronger than jail but less hard than death...but which way...?

Yeah ok........actually I'm not talking about those guys who are in prison maybe for 10 years and then go out on the street again and kill another person....I'm more talking about those guys who ahve to stay in prison their whole life....or somethig like that...

yeah he can think about what he does, can wonder why did he do that. There is a real changing between he enters and he gets out of jail.but, sometimes i find justice unfair...in france we'd the court of law of Outreau.dunno if u heard about it...

Some parents were imprisonned coz they were said to rapt their children!!!

They stay during 3 years in jail and at the end, they were not guilty!!!!

they lost everything they had...Here u can say that it makes feel something to the persons who are in that case.

lifetime prison is the same as death...

I don't think so...because a life in prison you can feel and death you don't....

for this person maybe, but for the society... what does it change? lifetime prison makes a person useless and costs money to the government...

I'm not saying that there should be a use... I'm just saying that if this person is dead or spends the rest of life in prison it's the same for the society (only difference, costs more)...

Yeah...ok then if you consider society....

but in ethnical terms......I think ther eis a difference....

No......more about the fact if it is right to kill somebody because for what he/she has done...

So I think I have to edit my first post....the question is not really what I mean...

yeah , if you kill somebody because he killed somebody( or anything..) then you make the same mistake!

yeah ' date=' if you kill somebody because he killed somebody( or anything..) then you make the same mistake![/quote']

i agree completely...

yeah ' date=' if you kill somebody because he killed somebody( or anything..) then you make the same mistake![/quote']

I agree, besides it has happenned before that they kill the wrong person and then when they realise they can do nothing about it, the person is already dead.

^Yes, there is always human error, because humans are dumb and make mistakes. You cannot bring an innocent person back, and for that reason I think it's a bad idea.

yeah ' date=' if you kill somebody because he killed somebody( or anything..) then you make the same mistake![/quote']

I also agree with you!

I believe in reformation, education, understanding...

Which its kinda complicated for terrible crimes... but death is not justified (at least of course if the criminal wants it)

But everyone must pay according to what they did and get psychiatric help if they need it.

This is gonna sound odd, but I'm not totally against it. I wouldn't condemn a murderer (regular one,not torturer) to death because in a certain way it's passional thing and I (don't wanna say 'understand' because it might look like I'm defending them and I'm not)...know there are some feelings that just push you over the edge, but when it comes to rapists I'm all in. I'd kill them without a doubt for comitting the worst crime possible against a person that ruins him/her for life

Mmm, yeah you have a point... also child molestators... its a very complicated situation, I wouldn't defend them but they are also people and dunno maybe they're sick and have big problems, they need help and pay enough for what they did but I don't think killing would make any better the pain they caused to other people.
