I only watch soccer during the world cup....

....and all I can say is that it can be exciting but it really pisses me off how much the footballers dive and fake injuries! They are a bunch of babies. I'm watching the hockey playoffs and guys are blocking pieces of rubber shot at 90mph but don't go off whining or holding themselves. I mean yes I can see how getting kicked or tripped can hurt but you don't need to roll around, get a stretcher out, then on the next play be out there running around like nothing happened. Suck it up and keep playing.

It's aprt of the game, if you fly through the air it's gonna look like the other player really hurt you, and the referee's gonna take more severe measures

But its a disgrace to the sport. I don't see how embelishing, simulating, diving, faking, can be part of a game! If there was all this faking and diving in hockey I definitely would not watch it.

Watching the Italy USA game was making me upset. I used to like Italy quite a bit but they just were flopping around the whole game and it was really annoying.

I agree with you but it is a bit different.

In hockey you have a bunch of padding. In soccer if you get clipped in the back of the calf, it hurts like there is no tomorrow. I think what happens is that it really hurts directly after it happened but once you start getting up and moving it feels better. Plus you feel a need to get back in becuase you only have three subs and your team is down a player as it is with you being injured so you take one for the team.

Well that's my feeling on it but I do agree. There is a lot of diving and faking and it really needs to be stopped. :\

theatrics on the pitch piss me off, but hey

it's a part of the game.

there would be no penalties otherwise.

no fouls.

no yellow cards.

no red's.

Yeah it must hurt like crazy to get clipped in the back of the calf and I know that they aren't all faking but there definitely is alot of faking. Like when a guy bareley gets touched and falls down.

If all players were like Brian McBride we wouldn't have any problems

Yeah hats off to him. He took it like a man and continued playing

Thats why I like the US now, a stark contrast to the wimpy Italians.

Yea that is a bit annoying. I start yelling all the time when a foul gets called for no reason. :laugh3: My dog starts to run on his bed then.

totally agree w/ you sniggirb, i hate the theatrics during the WC. half of the lpayers sit there and fake it and it's just revolting to watch. total disgrace to the sport and team, and some teams just play dirty like that. shows some real character when you can get up and keep playing instead of rolling around on the ground like a baby.

Yay McBride!!!! i'm so proud of him :)
