almost lucid musical dreaming...

Featured Replies

Okay has this ever happened to any other musicians on here? I woke up suddenly at like 4:55am this morning with this verrry vivid and memorable dream in my head. Basically the dream was me being at a concert and I specifically remember the band playing one song from the concert, and I remember it being almost lucid, in the dream thinking to myself "I have to wake up and go and record a demo of this!" lol.

So then I did wake up and I pretty much had the tune of the chorus going over and over in my head, along with the word "snow" - I remembered the chorus built to the word snow in some way haha. So then pretty much 5 seconds after I woke I picked up my acoustic guitar and a pen/pad, and worked out the chords for the chorus tune, filled in the lyrics for the chorus, lol, and then worked out some kind of verse to lead into that chorus. And it flowed so well I guess because I subconciously already new how the song should go lol, it was written in like 5 minutes or less. Then I went and recorded a rough home demo of it.

So has anything like this ever happened to anyone else? Sure I've come up with lyrical ideas and stuff while trying to fall asleep in the past, but I've never specifically taken a song or anything directly from an actual dream before. I was kinda freaked out and also excited by it haha.

P.S check out my music at http://www.myspace.com/alexgladwin (note: this dream song isn't on there though lol) add me if you like it
