Well I'm off to bed too!

Good nite Judy and Josh!

I hope your thread never dies! I'll come back tomorrow to help keep it alive:lol:

wow josh you've done well for yourself, over 200 posts already!

well i do biolgy and we talked about organ donorship earlier in the year.

a point you havent got is as follows. you know how they try to 'match' organs?

well, no two people will ever match. only identical twins have indentical tissue. all other people have different antigens (protein recognition markers) on the outside of their body cells. if these antigens are different and detected by the body as non-self, the body well begin to destroy the tissue...

so.. unless someone recieves their organ from an indentical twin, they need to take immunosuppressant drugs. these drugs turn off the immune system so it wont recognise the foreign antigens (the organ) in the body. however the negative effect to these immunosuppresant drugs is that they make the recipient alot more susceptible to small diseases like the flu as their immune systems capability is diminished. they also often feel lathargic and experience nausea.

*BIG POINT YOU SHOULD INCLUDE!!*

i know, i'm a biology nerd :P

i read something like that while researching but the wording was so comlex so i just basically skipped it..... it was from some med site so i thought that would be a bit excessive.... anyway that IS a great point. how else can the opposing side disagree with that :sneaky: i guess i'm lucky to have gotten your help at this hour (its 1:06 right now) and that you took biology :laugh3:

ohh thanks again, you're so smart knowing all this at the top of your head :smug:

yeah. caz, it would be wrong if we didnt!!

i'm glad to have helped. lol i'm such a biology nerd. but i remember it because i'm a curious person and i find alot of the stuff in biol really practical and interesting.

have you also talked about religion and what it thinks of organ donors?

lol.

i totally suck at biology. +_+

however.

i'm off to school now. :(

have a nice day, folks. ;)

^yep, i've got some of that covered

at an award assembly at school one year i got the science award for my "curiousity in science and her willingness to ask questions, such as "ms. ryan, why is this like that? how come this occurs?"(blahblahblah)"

i was really shocked because i really don't remember asking her any of those questions..... sure made me sound a bit like a nerd as well :laugh3:

hahahaha. NERDS TO THE RESCUE!!! :P

AMEN! hahahaha science rules :disguise:

(that just reminded me of this kid show that used to air and the teachers would always play episodes to us up till ninth grade :freak: .... bill nye the science guy.... have you heard?
