Amsterdam Bridge help

Featured Replies

Hi there

Ive been learning amsterdamn and i am practising the part before the climax/bridge of the song. I have the piano sheet but it doesnt sound right as ive listened to the song and that part seems longer than is written on the music sheet

basically im trying to find out what the excat notes are for the bar after the part where the right hand moves from GEBG -> FDB

any help would be greatly appreciated.

haha I'm learning amsterdam too right now, humm and that's the part I'm up to. well I tried playing it with the music but it seemed out of time so I'm just trying to get good at it then add music. will check it out though :)

yeah that part definately sounds out of time.. its missing notes but i cant figure it out. . was bugging me the whole night :(

Can you upload your music piece ? Cause i have a coldplay sheet book.. 4 officials, 3 on computer and one just not on the computer;)

But I can compare them.. And maybe there is a fault, i've never played this piece, cause in the beginning i'm a bit stuck :p And i don't have enough patient :)

Haha . .6 tests is crazy ... hope you nailed the french test :), i've got an exam coming up myself :P

Haha well my French test didn't go bad, but I guess i have screwed my Text part ;)

Well tomorrow, history and Dutch :p

Well I call the substitutes. When I first learned to play I started from scratch meaning I learned by ear. Because I couldn't read music and these are the chords I came up with for the bridge. Their substitutes because they are almost right. The G note on the cd keeps repeating but I can't build a chord around it for some reason but here are the chords

A, C, Eb, G

Ab, C, Eb, G

Ab, C, Eb, F

G, Bb, Eb

F, Bb, D

Play with the Cd

Bb D F

Bb Eb G

Bb D F

I can play Amsterdam. I learned the version in the Play Piano w/ Coldplay book. It sounds right to me...

Do you have that book?

Nope. .but ive heard that version and it sounds correct .. do you mind posting the notes for the bridge ? that would be fantastic

I dnt understand are u talking about the fill or the ending bridge. Give me the time on the track for amsterdam and I will listen to it and I should be able to tell u the rest. Cos I'm not sure about the exact line ur on.

its the part after 3.30 mins on the album track. Full treble and bass clef notes for that part would be greatly appreciated :P

It is very complicated. Do you have the A Rush of Blood to the Head book? The treble notes are basically the same from those in the ARBTTH book, but the bass notes are different. If you have that book, I'll send you the bass notes. Otherwise, it will be too complicated to send to you because of the rhythm.

All I'm gettin from that bridge is

A, C, G - F, C

Ab, C, Eb, G - Ab, Eb

Ab, C, Eb, F - Ab, Eb

G, Bb, Eb, G - Eb, D#

F, Bb, D, F - Bb, D

My advice to you is to listen to the live 2003 amsterdam track becuz it seems like the out of tune sound is throwing u off. Play these chords with the amsterdam track from the live 2003 cd. I guarantee ur satisfaction. I just did it a few minutes ago and I was surprised 2 find that the pitch of the songs can really throw u off. So try it with the live version and tell me what u came up with.

I'm annoyed. cos I can't get it to fit in with the music grrrr. the first three bars are all good they work nicely but the forth doesn't work for me hummmm....

I know it took a awhile for me 2 get it 2. But listen 2 the way he chops it. The bar Ab, C Eb, F - Goes with Ab, Eb because its the chord that he chops in the bridge. try

Ab, C, Eb, G

Then quickly go 2

Ab, C, Eb, F

yup i have the book but the treble lines are definately different from the ones in the book .. ive been improvising to the best i can and i will most what i have come up with soon . although i am still unhappy with the result..
