Madrid Airport bombing receives scant attention

How many people who aren't news junkies know that Madrid Airport was bombed on Saturday? Relatively few I would venture, and that's because major western governments and their media mouthpieces don't hype terror unless Muslims are behind it.

 

I personally only caught the story a couple of days after it happened on an obscure channel on UK digital satellite called Euro News. Operatives of the Basque separatist organization ETA packed 800kg of explosives in a car bomb that ripped apart the parking lot of Barajas Madrid Airport, killing two and injuring twenty people.

 

 

Now imagine if "Al-Qaeda" bombed Heathrow or LAX. You'd never hear the end of it, the news would be on it 24/7 and entering an airport would be akin to checking into a concentration camp. And yet Saturday's blast was greeted by little more than bylines and muted dismissals by the mainstream media.

 

Before 9/11 terrorism was seen through the prism of a criminal problem because fewer people lose their lives as a result of it than do those who get struck by lightening. There have been just 2,929 terror induced deaths since 9/11 according to the Bush administration's own numbers and more people every year die in swimming pool accidents - hardly the mega threat to western society that many have portrayed. Put in this context, Saturday's bombing would not have made the top of the news because like all terrorism that occurs in the west, it is extremely rare, random and, like murder, rape or theft, is impossible to ever truly prevent.

 

But in the "post 9/11 world," the artificial creation and maintenance of the myth of "Islamofascism" is dependent on ceaseless obsession with the imminent threat of Muslim terror around every corner, and that's why something like the Madrid Airport bombing would have been shoved down our throats until kingdom come - but only if Muslims were behind it.

 

Terror attacks like Saturday's become mere pre-cursors to the "and finally" puff piece if they can't be pinned on "Islamofascists" and the scam recycled.

 

It's almost a national emergency nowadays if Muslims - God forbid - are seen praying on an aeroplane, and their every action being scrutinized as a foreboding for the apocalypse, which only breeds suspicion across all of society, has turned the land of the free into the United States of Hysteria.

 

Swimming pools killed more Americans than terrorists today - Muslim or otherwise.

This article wouldnt happen to be american would it? When have they ever paid much attention to the rest of the world?

I did see it, it was in the news yes, but it really vanished into a black hole after a couple of hours.

 

Before I posted this I went into the living room and asked both my parents (who watch the news a bit) "did you know there was a terrorist attack on Saturday?" They both said "no". I asked seven people I know who are on my MSN list and they all except 1 person answered "no, I didn't".

 

Then I told them what had happened - they were amazed they hadn't heard anything about it.

 

Then I made my points about who was reportedly behind the attacks and why it just seemed to vanish from the TV in a few hours.

 

Imagine if this had have actually been reported to be the work of 'muslims'?

Nobody can tell me that it would have achieved the same amount of feable attention. There would have been a 1000% increase in coverage.....

 

Also, if it had happened at Gatwick or Heathrow it would have been on US/UK/European news for days.

Well the ETA, isnt an international concern thou...Its a local issue. I bet its been big news in Spain.

 

If the IRA did something over here, i wouldnt expect it to be on the Spainish news much.

I sort of see your point there, yeah.

 

However, I'd make the same point about so-called "muslim extremists" attacking within our countries.

This is certainly not the International problem we are led to believe.

blimey!! I've not seen anything about that anywhere, and I practically live on the BBC news site whilst I'm at work.

I saw this on the news........but obviously it was not a big deal (according to the news)....I was like "Wtf? Terrorists? And they are not making a big deal of it? This definitely couldn't have been Muslims"......and what happened? Some seconds later they said that the ETA is responsible for it......

 

wow it was so strange because you are right.....if Muslims would have been responsible for it ....it would have been THE headline....

Second Madrid blast victim found

 

Spanish rescuers have found the body of a second man under the rubble left by Saturday's huge car bomb blast at Madrid airport, officials have said.

The body is believed to be that of a 19-year-old Ecuadorean immigrant.

 

The body of another Ecuadorean man was found on Wednesday. Both victims were buried under tons of rubble from the airport's multi-storey car park.

 

Spain blamed the bomb on the Basque separatist group Eta, which had been nine months into a ceasefire.

 

On Thursday, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said he was "more determined than ever" to stamp out violence after visiting the scene of the blast.

 

In a separate development on Thursday, Basque police said they had found a car packed with explosives.

 

Grim discovery

 

The body believed to be that of Ecuadorean migrant Diego Armando Estacio was found in a car on Friday, Spanish officials said.

 

Rescuers - using a specialist camera - were able to spot an arm inside the car flattened by thousands of tonnes of steel and concrete.

 

The removal of the body is expected to take several hours.

 

The other victim, 35-year-old Carlos Alonso Palate, was found on Wednesday.

 

Both men had been sleeping in their cars, and so did not manage to escape the building even though at least one telephone warning was received before the bomb exploded.

 

The powerful blast flattened the five-storey car park.

 

Rescuers and firefighters are still engaged in clearing some 40,000 tons of rubble, and about 400 wrecked cars.

 

'Right to life'

 

On Thursday, Mr Zapatero said the attack "will achieve nothing, it is not going to intimidate anyone".

 

"I am more determined than ever to devote my energy to seeing an end to violence and achieving peace", Mr Zapatero said.

 

All citizens "have a right to a life without bombs or violence," he added.

 

Eta has not officially claimed responsibility for the blast, though the warning caller said he was from the group.

 

Eta's political wing, Batasuna, insists the peace process "is not broken".

 

But Spanish Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba has declared it "finished".

 

The deaths of the two Ecuadorians were the first attributed to Eta in more than three years.

I watched it on TV news, but I was in feast and I noticed that no one really care about it.

 

But I don't know that they put 800KG of explosives in a car :stunned:

I only saw a 10 second clip of this on BBC news on the day it happened. Nothing since.

I know.......because it was a REAL terror attack. Not a fake "set-up" muslim group.

 

All our media is utterly controlled - we only hear about terror when our criminal governments need to show off their handy work. Be it infiltrated/provoked or fully organised by criminal government factions with 'set-up' muslims who think they are taking part in a drill - it's all staged and the stakes are getting higher every time. When a "real" group of terrorists attack, admit the crime and it turns out to be none Islamic Muslims our media shifts past it far too quickly.

 

Everyone needs to be very aware.
