I've been given an AIFF file for How We See The World. It was recorded to a mac, and although I can play it on my pc, I can't burn it. Is it a codec issue? And if so, what can I do about it?

Dave's one of the ppl I really hope sees this. If no one replies, I'll probably pm him and a few others. It's driving me crazy, because I have all the songs sequenced, but I can't burn the whole thing and listen to it away from my computer.

I still only have 6 or 7 sound bytes...I'm probably going to have to give up on the idea I had for them unless I get more soon. I'm going to put out another appeal for them on the thread, but no one seems to like the sound of their voice, so I'm not holding my breath. Oh well, the music's still awesome!!:)

Petra_coldplay sent me an instrumental piano piece that's slow and moody. It's really nice, but it doesn't fit well with the rest of the songs. So I want to use it as the bonus track, and overlay ppl from the forum introducing themselves, so that people hearing the CD get an insight into the real lives behind the CD. Over all that, I want to read Tania's 'mission statement' for the CCC. It would basically be an ad...but it would be art too. I've done stuff like this working in radio, and I think it could be really effective. But it's going to sound pretty thin with just a few voices. (many voices, one goal) Hope that makes sense.

I think you're right. I wanted to keep it secret so that when people bought the CD they'd hear it and say 'oh cool! that's what she was up to!' I wanted it to be a surprise. As a music listener, I'd appreciate something like that. But I don't think it's going to work out unlessw I explain it.

Shows how much I know. I didn't know AIFF was a lossless format. It's large enough to be. Well, that gives me an idea of who to ask anyway. Thanks Dave.:)

Can't you just convert it to something else with itunes?

 

I'm pretty sure I have some aiff stuff i've done that with... doublechecking.

Ok, where it is a mac file, you can mess around with it in itunes.

 

-Go to itunes, on the file menu, select add file to library, and find the file you want to convert

 

-right click on the file when it shows up in the library. There will be an option that says 'convert file to .mp3' or 'convert file to .wav' or some other file extention.

 

-if you want to convert it to a different file type than is offered, go to edit, select preferences, click on the 'advanced' tab, and then click on the 'importing' tab. It will give you the option 'import using:' and then you can select the file type you want to convert to. Go back to the library and do step 2.
