funeral

Featured Replies

This may be a depressing topic but im bored as heck. Anyways my friend had to plan a funeral for her father and she was trying to decide on a song to play at the funeral and im just wondering if you had to pick any song in the world what would it be and why:

For yourself: mine would probably be angels by robbie williams

For a friend: yesterday by the beatles, the dance by garth brooks

For a parent: in the arms of an angel sarah Mclachlan

For an enemy: haha probably highway to hell

Kind of depressing topic but I will discuss it.

For yourself:

Walk On - U2 ...just because its talking about all that you can't leave behind. The concept of moving on from life here on earth to the afterlife is an interesting thing to think about.

"Walk On"

And love is not the easy thing

The only baggage you can bring

And love is not the easy thing

The only baggage you can bring

Is all that you can't leave behind

And if the darkness is to keep us apart

And if the daylight feels like it's a long way off

And if your glass heart should crack

And for one second you turn back

Oh no, be strong

Walk on, walk on

What you got they can't steal it

No, they can't even feel it

Walk on, walk on

Stay safe tonight

You're packing a suitcase for a place none of has been

A place that has to be believed to be seen

You could have flown away

A singing bird in an open cage

Who will only fly, only fly for freedom

Walk on, walk on

What you've got they can't deny it

Can't sell it or buy it

Walk on, walk on

You stay safe tonight

And I know it aches, how your heart it breaks

You can only take so much

Walk on, walk on

Home, hard to know what it is if you've never had one

Home, I can't say where it is but I know I'm going home

That's where the hurt is

And I know it aches and your heart it breaks

And you can only take so much

Walk on

Leave it behind

You've got to leave it behind

All that you fashion

All that you make

All that you build

All that you break

All that you measure

All that you feel

All this you can leave behind

All that you reason

It’s only time

All that you bear

No more than a feeling on my mind

All that you see

All that you wear

All that you sense

All that you scheme

All you dress up

All that you’ve seen

All you create

And all that you wreck

All that you hate

For a friend:

Too hard to answer, it really depends on who the friend was.

For a parent:

Another U2 song. Its just a beautiful beautiful short song. They played it at the superbowl as a tribute to 9/11. One of the most emotional things I have ever watched.

"MLK"

Sleep, sleep tonight

And may your dreams be realised

If the thunder cloud passes rain

So let it rain, rain down on he

So let it be

So let it be

Sleep, sleep tonight

And may your dreams be realised

If the thunder cloud passes rain

So let it rain, let it rain

Rain down on he

For an enemy:

Good Ridance by Green Day.

^wow:cry: .. i love U2 so much and yes that gave me shivers and put butterflies in my stomach

*adds to favorites*

Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers, likely.

Not so much for the lyrics, but it's an amazing song.

I think I'd like to have the whole of the By The Way album played though.

For me it couldn't be anything other than Everything's Not Lost, the lyrics are amazing and I think it'd be kind of cool to go out with all the instruments making as much noise as possible

lately thought about it and decided not to get like a coffin, but an urn. lol.

so i want my descendants to scatter my ashes somewhere... [not sure bout the place yet] to U2's "Beautiful Day".

because somewhere in the world there's someone who just had the most beautiful day in their life.

for friends and relatives i'd likely have a song by Sigur Rós played. perhaps "Untitled #1" or "Hoppipolla". depends on the person, really.

Play "I Could Die For You"?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. But I do really love that song.
