Big Brother's Jade Goody banned from driving for six months

Reality television star Jade Goody was today given a six-month driving ban after admitting to a series of motoring offences.

The 26-year-old, of Chipping Ongar, Essex, appeared at Basildon Magistrates Court today where she admitted driving her £40,000 BMW car with a provisional driving licence on November 3 on the M1 motorway at Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire.

The mother-of-two had pleaded with magistrates to let her escape the ban saying her life in the spotlight made it difficult for her to use public transport.

 

Her solicitor told the court: "As a celebrity the interest by the public in Miss Goody is not always positive. It is impracticable for her to use public transport."

But her pleas were ignored, and the magistrates handed down 14 penalty points - meaning an instant six-month road ban for the infamous Big Brother housemate.

Goody also pleaded guilty to driving the vehicle otherwise in accordance with her licence and to driving with no insurance.

 

 

Sentencing, magistrates' chairman Richard Albon ordered Goody to pay more than £1,500 in fines and court costs and said 14 points would be added to her driving licence, meaning she would be banned under the totting-up procedure.

Mother-of-two Jade is reported to have ditched her 19-year-old lover on Monday night after a tearful showdown.

The pair, who lived together in Jade's £500,000 home in Ongar, Essex with her two son's Bobby, 4, and Freddie, 2, had been dogged with claims of cheating throughout their stormy two year relationship.

Jade's agent, Sean O'Brien said today "We are not commenting on that".

 

The fiery couple suffered massive heartbreak recently when Jade miscarried while three-months pregnant with Jack's baby. The split comes just two months after the traumatic event.

The devastating miscarriage in June came just days after Jade's former babysitter and friend Luke Rustem, 29, pleaded guilty to stealing more than £21,500 from her chequebook.

Jack, who is six years younger than Jade, is reported to have arrived at his mother Mary's home in years, having left without time to pack his belongings.

Jade shot to fame when she was booted out of the Big Brother house in 2002. But the former dental nurse fell from public favour this year when she was smuggled out of the house under claims of racism after calling fellow contestant and Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, Shilpa poppodom.

The 26-year-old went into hiding on a country estate owned by Jack's relatives while police reportedly received death threats and a window at her Essex home was smashed.

The former Bermondsey blonde was devastated when plans to move to a £1 million barn in the countryside fell through and admitted work had dried up after coming out of Celebrity Big Brother.

Both Jade and Jack have both been in hot water with the courts recently as they were both banned from driving over separate incidents.

In March this year Jack was banned from getting behind the wheel for a year and fined more than £1,000 for drink driving.

Two months later Jade left a court in tears when she too was banned after never applying for a full license after passing her test and accidentally cancelled her car insurance.
