We all know looks go a long way in these image- obsessed days but some of us, it appears, are taking things a little too far.

A quick look in the mirror to make sure no hideous malfunctions of hair, makeup or clothes have occurred is clearly no longer enough.

Millions of women, with men not far behind, can't go longer than half an hour without a precautionary peek at their reflection, a survey has found.

In some parts of the country, women admit to checking their appearance as many as 71 times a day.

Among men, the worst offenders find time to look in the mirror 66 times a day.

Nationally men check their face 27 times on average each day, against 34 times on average for women.

The figure equates to women stopping at least once every half an hour in a 16-hour waking day.

Researchers questioned around 2,000 men and women and produced a league table of vanity.

Liverpool, home of style-conscious Wags Coleen McLoughlin and Alex Curran, topped the poll as having the vainest women, with 71 peeks in the mirror each day.

London women came in second, followed by Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Leeds, Birmingham, Belfast and finally Bristol, where women admitted looking in the mirror just eight times a day.

London was top among men, who admitted checking their reflections 66 times a day, followed by Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol and Belfast.

Rosalind Chapman, of make-up firm Transformulas International which commissioned the online survey, said: "British people often get criticised for not being as image conscious as our European counterparts but this survey is the proof that we love to check our appearance and look good."

The survey also revealed that women reapplied their lipstick and make-up a staggering 11 times a day.

Those in their 20s are the most image conscious with men and women aged 27 topping the league by checking their appearance 52 times a day.

People in their 60s clearly have better things to do.

They look in the mirror just five times a day.

Is it possible for you to string 2 sentences together without a cringeworthy pun or that overkilled smiley?

Or even possible to string 2 sentences together? Never seems likely.

that doesn't sound right to me. every 30 minutes? And 27 times on average for a man? Sometimes I go a very very long time without looking at my reflection. I maybe look 6 times a day at most. And 0 sometimes.

I'm probably the vainest person ever.:$

:laugh4:

If I see glass I go out of my way to look in it.

I like to watch myself walk when I have cute shoes and jeans on together.

I don't even know how many times I fuss over my hair each day.

What a pile of shit.....they don't know this....another silly survey which is likely very unscientific.

Who wants to carry this type of survey out for crying out loud.......mirror salesmen?

Even worse....why do terrible 'news'papers print them as if we should care?

The headline should be....

IDIOTS WASTE TIME ON VANITY SURVEY

...in fact that headline also doubles up as the full story.

Honestly, reading this kind of stuff could make you kill yourself :dozey:

How come?

How come?

Because I usually don't like what I see, and I don't wanna make myself feel worse.

I don't feel beautiful though. Inside or out.
