Her persuasive powers obviously have no limits.

After managing to convince the-then Prime Minister Tony Blair to play the fool for a Comic Relief sketch, Catherine Tate attempts to achieve the unthinkable once more - by bedding George Michael.

Admittedly it's all for her Christmas special, where the popular funny lady is clearly keen to show Michael's humorous side.

In the unlikely scene, Tate's alter ego, ward aid Bernie, tries to seduce the openly-gay superstar, who seems more keen to catch-up on his sleep.

"Bernie can't believe her luck when George turns up," a source told the Daily Mirror.

"She's oblivious to the fact he's gay and tries to seduce him. But the closest she gets is a snog.

"When he spurns her she stops singing Wham songs and starts on Duran Duran numbers to annoy him.

"It's very funny," the source added.

After a turbulent year for Michael, the singer appears to have enjoyed the experience of working with Tate, happily posing for publicity stills.

He escaped jail in June and was given 100 hours' community service instead after admitting driving while unfit through drugs.

And the last time the singer made an appearance on a BBC show, he forced the network to pull the plug on an interview he gave in which he revealed he was too scared to have an AIDs test.

The star made the admission to Stephen Fry for a two part documentary shown on BBC2 in October.

However fortunately for Tate (and us), Michael seems to have no inhibitions in flexing his funny bones.
